Introducing the handsome and lovable Rufus!

This beautiful boy came into our care just over two months ago and is not loving this shelter life. Rufus is on the search for his forever home and we would love to help him find that.

Originally bred to herd cattle, the Cattledog is the epitome of an Aussie best mate! Working breed dogs are the most amazing companions, but do require a lot of time and energy to help them learn the ropes.

An energetic and lively boy, Rufus is full of beans and is on the lookout for an adults-only household with an active lifestyle. At times Rufus can be a bit of a boisterous boy, because of this he is not suitable to live in any apartments or with any feline companions.

Rufus LOVES his human companions and is sure to be your best mate in no time, but at the moment he is a little conflicted around his canine companions and would prefer to be the only dog in the house.

Rufus not only has a lot of energy but is a very intelligent boy, and has already mastered sit! Rufus' future adopters should be committed to continuing force-free positive reinforcement training to help Rufus master all his skills. Furthermore, due to his energy levels, Rufus' adopters should be committed to ensuring that all of his exercise needs are met.

Without mental and physical exercise working breed dogs can often fall astray to destructive behaviours, our team here at the adoptions team can recommend you loads of enrichment toys and independence training techniques to help keep his mind and body busy!
