About Tinsel
Dear Diary,
Today is day 566 for me being in SAFE's care.
That's 566 days of waiting and hoping to be chosen for.
566 of being disappointed 😔
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I had the chance to come here.
Before, I lived on the streets with all my brothers and sisters and sons and daughters and nieces and nephews and... you get the idea.
We didn't have a home or regular meals or anyone to care for us.
It's hard being a stray cat.
So I love the consistent food and the soft bed and the kindness I get here. 💜
And I LOVE to play with toys!
But I REALLY want a home of my own.
So here's the two reasons I think I haven't found a home yet. Let's just get them out of the way and find out if they scare you off!
1. I'm FIV positive
2. I'm still very shy/distant
FIV or Feline Immunodeficiency Virus is similar to HIV in people.
It can't spread to people or dogs or any other species of animals though!
And it's actually really hard to spread between cats.
I don't require any ongoing medication and I should still have a good long life!
Please talk to the nice SAFE people and they can tell you more about FIV.
2. Growing up as I did without positive and kind treatment from humans, meant that I naturally had to be very wary.
Although I've come such a long way in my 566 days I am still an 'at arm's length cat'
So, I tolerate a little pat while I'm eating but the rest of the time I am pretty indifferent to 😅
Sorry but it's true - I'm a free loader.
Though I certainly will catch any rogue rodents who come into your home, so that's a bonus right?!
We can definitely form a fabulous friendship - but it will be built on mutual respect and understanding of boundaries.
Not on cuddles.
I can live with other cats but I honestly tend to keep my distance from them too.
I'll be content with respectful friends, or on my own.
Im okay with dogs if they leave me alone, no chasing please!
I can certainly live in a home with kids but again, I'm not going to be able to be picked up or cuddled so if that's what they're after, it's a no go.
I am, of course, desexed microchipped and vaccinated.
I really don't want to spend another day waiting.
Please could someone take me home??
