Petey

Petey is so gentle, loving and sweet. He is often found laying on the couch with his head on his foster mums lap! He adores playing in water, no matter how cold it is, he will even find the smallest muddy puddle and play in it for hours!

He loves playing with other dogs, dogs that are dominant are best for him as he will try and dominate a submissive dog but when told off he responds well.

He does have some things he is currently working on, he is very shy about his collar, he does not like it being held or having a lead attached to it. He will drop to the floor and not move if you grab him by the collar. He has responded well to a harness and is learning to walk with this, he will need continued support to nurture and grow this skill, he is very treat motivated and so this will help him grow this skill in his new home.

The same goes with getting into the car, this is a skill he is working on and will need continued support and training with this. Currently his carer can get him to the car with his harness and lead but needs to assist with getting him into the car! Once in the car he loves it, he sits there with his head high watching the world go by!

He is great at sleeping all night without inside accidents but needs to be taken out first thing in the morning and regularly during the day to avoid inside messes, if you have a doggy door he will use that and go out willingly!

He absolutely needs another dog in the house, he becomes depressed and withdrawn without another dog to play with and for company.

He loves treats and will sit on command.

He does very gentle play with his mouth but when told to stop he listens, he is a very placid boy and isn't high energy at all but he does love a play and rough and tumble with other dogs but then he will just sit on the couch with you for the arvo :)

He will need someone home alot, if left alone by himself he does get stressed so another dog for company while you're out will also help him with this.

In a new home Petey will take a bit of time to get used to all the new surroundings but when given patience and time he will be the best dog you have ever owned, he is just so adorable!

He is wonderful with cats, he does like to play if they are willing but is always gentle. And if told off by a cat he responds by running away and leaving them alone.

He is beautiful around children as he does not jump at all! He is in foster care with children aged 4-12 and he is their best friend, he loves it when they play ball with him or he will find any toy to play with and he especially loves to chew up rubber toys!
