About Jet Boy
\Meet our gorgeous, loveable senior Gentleman â Jet Boyâ Our sweet senior is a 37 Kilo Boxer x larger size med who just adores life and everyone he meets. He is a spritely loving and sweet boy who will make an amazing companion
Jet is just the sweetest gentle chubby boy ! He does need to lose at least 4 kilos
He is a real people dog, wanting nothing more than to be near his people and involved in whatever you are doing, from helping in the garden or following you around the house, to sleeping at your feet while you work on the computer. He is excellent with other dogs and doesnât even respond if another dog growls at him. Jet doesnât have an aggressive bone in his body.
Jetâs absolute favorite things are pats and cuddles. Heâs a big happy boy who just wants to be loved.
He would be great with kids as he is very gentle, but probably not very young ones as he sometimes forgets his size and may accidentally knock them over. He is happy to meet new people, well mannered and doesnât jump up, but he does require new people to give him pats.
Jet knows basic commands. He does get a bit over excited at meal times and when getting treats, and sometimes forgets his manners with the other dogs, going to dart in and steal their food. We have been working on this in foster care and he is improving. His recall is good, especially if his favorite person crouches down with their arms out and calls him. He will rush towards them for a cuddle.
Jet has been living with two resident dogs in foster care, and he has been an absolute angel with them. Very quickly we were able to trust him to stay inside the house with the other dogs while we were out, with no accidents, fighting or destruction. He sometimes gets a bit playful, but is mostly happy just to hang around with the other dogs. Jet has barked a couple of times at the kangaroos, but mostly he is very quiet, and will come back inside when asked. He hasnât been tested with cats, but we believe his chilled out attitude would be the same and he would just want to be friends.
Jet loves his food but has been allowed to get a bit chunky in his previous home. We have been helping him trim down while in foster care and this may need to be continued in his new home. He takes treats very gently (but thinks that carrots and apples are not proper treats. After initially rejecting them, though, heâll eat them anyway.) Jet eats a mix of wet and dry food.
Jet loves going for a walk and walks well on lead. Being a senior dog, he doesnât need a fast or long walk, but loves the opportunity to sniff and check things out. Although he is interested in other dogs and people while out walking, if called away he will readily comply. Despite his age, he has plenty of energy and enthusiasm for experiencing the world.
Jet has not been allowed on the couch in foster care, and is fine to stay on the floor, but he would be very happy to drape himself over your lap if you allow him to get up on your couch. He is well mannered and wonât jump up on the couch uninvited. Jet is house trained and not destructive.
Jet is happy to snooze when nothing is going on, or chew on a treat or toy while watching the world go by.
Jet is not overly keen on having a bath, but once treats are introduced he gets much more brave about it. He is very happy to stand and have a toweling and seems to enjoy being brushed.
Jet has been sleeping on the floor in the bedroom on his bed . He is not keen on sleeping in a crate, but given a nice comfy bed, would be happy to sleep anywhere as long as his people arenât too far away.
Jet would prefer a home with someone who is home a lot of the time, as he has a bit of a sook when his family first leaves the home. Giving him a pig ear when leaving for work has been helping with this. He would be suitable for a family with or without children, or a single or older person wanting a companion, with or without other pets. He would love a backyard to poke around in.
We have started Jet on the joint formula Antinol Rapid capsules to ensure those joints keep supple and lose as he matures
