About Mars rtsa012671
Meet Mars, an affectionate boy who's eagerly waiting to explore the cosmos of your home! Mars is an incredible bundle of joy who thrives on attention and loves nothing more than being with his favorite humans.
Mars is at that delightful 'teenager' stage where his curiosity knows no bounds. He needs plenty of enrichment to keep him entertained and occupied, so expect hours of fun as you unravel balls of yarn, puzzle feeders, teaser toys, and maybe even a cardboard box or two together!
However, Mars is not about all play and no rest. In quieter moments, you'll find him snuggling up to you, purring away, and basking in your affection. Mars isn't shy about showing you how much he loves you and would make a sweet addition to any household.
Additionally, Mars enjoys the company of fellow felines. If you happen to already have another friendly feline in the house, Mars would be ecstatic to join the family and contribute to the harmony. So, if you're looking for a guy who's full of life, companionable with other felines, and could potentially dominate at hide-and-seek, look no further than Mars.
Medical notes
Bilateral Medial Luxating Patellas (MLP)
Explanation of condition: This cat was examined and found to have bilateral medial luxating patella (MLPs). These are grade 1 MLPs, which means that the patellas (knee caps) stay mostly in the correct position within the groove of the knee joint, but can be luxated out of position with some pressure. When the knee caps luxate, they move towards the medial (inside) aspect of the knee. When the hindlegs extend, the knee caps tends to move back into the correct position. The cat does not appear to be clinically lame and weight bears on both hind legs well. However, it is hard to fully assess their gait and whether or not lameness will occur in a shelter situation as the cat is mainly in a confined space.
There is an increased predisposition for cats with MLPs to develop arthritis. Hence, it is important that its weight be well controlled, so as not to become an overweight cat. Arthritis management may need to be considered in the future as welljoint
supplements/diets, arthritis injection courses, pain relief medications
If lameness or pain occurs due to the MLPs, then surgical correction to stabilise the loose knee caps would be indicated. If this occurs within 6 months of adoption, the costs of the surgery will be covered by CPS.
Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need.
