The jury is still out on whether Porkchop is in fact a dog or whether he’s a toddler in a white fur coat…

If you have never owned a Bull Terrier, welcome. You’re about to learn just how unique and loveable they really are. If you have, you’ll likely be nodding your head throughout. Porkchop does nothing by halves - he loves to the extreme, he plays to the extreme, he sleeps to the extreme, he tantrums to the extreme and is stubborn to the extreme 😆

Porkchop’s favourite things in no particular order are as follows:

✅ resting his giant egg head in the nape of your neck when having a snooze on the couch
✅ barking in your face at least twenty times at meal times due to utter excitement
✅ throwing tantrums when his toy get stuck under the couch or when he doesn’t get to share the human food at the dining table
✅ balls - little tennis ones, medium soccer ones or BIG yoga ones, his love for balls does not discriminate (see video)
✅ watching TikToks (see video)
✅ standing in front of your legs at the sink or and at the stove while you wash dishes and cook
✅ barking at least five times before even attempting a ‘sit’ due to being too overcome with excitement at the treat in the human’s hand
✅ playing chasey and keeping’s off with his foster fur brother every day
✅ silently tippy toeing around the house to look for more toys while the humans are distracted (11/10 would make the perfect assassin)
✅ doing the opposite of what the human wants him to do at least 98% of the time, this includes but is not limited to, when you are already walking towards them but they decide to call your name, so you promptly stop and just stare at them from a distance instead

Porkchop’s less conventional quirks are as follows:

🤨 he doesn’t like new floors - he’ll need lots of encouragement in the beginning to simply walk around the house.. he has overcome this in his foster home but had to be carried around by the vet in the clinic like the king he is!
🤨 he doesn’t like stairs - true story: he used the tiny robovac ramp for a good two weeks but has now mastered two small steps…sorry to those in reverse style living homes or with wooden staircases, but he is not the dog for you
🤨 continuously stopping in front of you or cutting across you when he walks just to keep you on your toes, he wouldn’t be good for those who are unsteady on their feet
🤨 when he’s excited he can sometimes be mouthy so young kids aren’t for him

In Porkchop’s ideal world, you have a comfy couch and human for him to snooze on, you don’t mind his excited barks (he’s a useless guard dog and will not bark at an intruder… unless the intruder is not patting him then he will bark, but he does not boredom bark), you will continue looking after his sensitive skin (special diet, medicated baths, supplements and medication, see medical notes below), you have a doggy sibling for him to play with if you work longer hours and are happy to take him on a daily stroll, he’s great on the lead. In return he will happily stay home while you go to work and will give you a lifetime of head butts and daily entertainment.

Porkchop is a favourite in the SODR community due to the sheer amount of entertaining content he produces on a daily basis. He has won over every human he’s met with his dashing good looks, loveable nature and quirky personality. If you don’t let him introduce himself to humans and dogs fast enough he will bark which puts some dogs and humans offside as his grumbles can be mistaken for growls, poor Porkchop just wants love though!

Nothing really phases him - he’s been humped, growled at and had toys taken from him by other dogs and he takes it all in his stride. He’s very responsive to other dog’s warnings and will back right off when he needs to. He’s a special guy and his foster carer will not let him go to anyone but the very best.
