Lorita is a champion little dog, a cross of two active, loyal and intelligent breeds. She is in care with another cattle dog mix foster, a cattle dog mix resident mentor dog as well as an old retriever plus 3 dog savvy cats.

Lorita has fitted in well with this mob, starting her day by smothering her foster mum in good morning kisses, then breaky, then the zoomies marathon begins with Lyzah the heeler x pup her age while the mentor dog watches with envy because she used to be that fast.

She met the 3 resident kitties and is fascinated with them. They have taught many fosters how to behave around cats and are usually snuggled up with them on a couch within a few days. She does like to chase them when they give chase but 2 of them actually like hallway chasey. She is inquisitive but respectful around them and will leave them if told to.

She is a very happy girl, nothing seems to faze her. She is happy to spend a few hours out in the yard with the older dog chewing hoofs, bones or branches from the compost heap. She likes to chew and grind things so investing in cows hoofs and dinosaur bones and kong toys will keep her occupied for hours. She has not displayed any destructive behaviour except to disembowel a stuffed monkey. She loves to play tug of war, ball (which she brings back 4 out of 5 times), and gives you her focus when asked. She has nearly mastered shake paws after only a day.

Anything for a treat.....she’s smart and quick to learn and revels in praise
about how clever she is. We are working on her lead skills as she has no idea what to do, so a haltie has been used to keep her on track and she is responding well. She travels well in the car, which she is seat-belted in the back seat for, and is quiet and well behaved. She doesn’t make much noise, though will have a little bark or two if the dog over the back fence goes off crook about something, which she picks up on and does the rounds of the yard patrolling for stranger danger.

Ideally, Lorita is looking for a family home with another dog of equal energy levels to play with and keep her company. She isn’t fussed being left in the yard when her carer is out but she does have a friend to hang out with, so this is what we would want for her. She is so smart and receptive to learning that her new owners would need to undertake to take her to puppy school where we are confident she will be the dux of the class. Keeping her socialised is important too as she loves other dogs.

An active family that have kids old enough to spend time teaching her things and playing ball and tug-o-war as well as a resident dog to do zoomies with will be her perfect home. Some training at puppy school (and you may wish to take it further than that given her intelligence and energy levels) and being an integral part of her new family is what she is seeking and whoever she chooses will be very lucky.

She is house trained and sleeps in a bed in her carer’s bedroom where all the other dogs sleep, and although she has been crate trained, she isn’t particularly keen on them. She slept in the laundry with her former carer’s 3 other small/med sized dogs and was happy to do so.

She is a neat, compact, good-looking girl who loves cuddles and scratches on the couch, playing with the other dogs and her carer, and basically just living her best life. She’s been no trouble whatsoever since arriving at her current placement and has been an absolute pleasure to have around.

If your family are missing a sweet, smart, active, excellent kisser and stunning looking little pocket rocket in their homes and hearts, this is your girl. She is what has been missing in your lives, please apply to meet her sooner rather than later.......or you might miss out.

Potential new owners will need to provide an undertaking to take her to puppy school, as her carer wants to be sure she is going to a committed family who are prepared to let her flourish and not waste her talents. She can jump up when excited (when you come home from being out) but is learning to divert and sit instead for which she is given a treat. So she is better suited to a home with children school age who will be interested in playing and burning off some energy with her. With a pocket full of delicious training treats, there is nothing she wont do for you.

A secure yard with good fencing and locked gates is important to keep her and her doggy friend safe. A walk (or two) per day would go down a treat, using a halti while she continues her training on lead, which she will need if she is to enrol in training.
