Benji is an absolutely amazing little companion dog. He is wonderful with people and bonds strongly with his humans. He likes kids. He requires a home where someone is always home as he frets and barks if left alone. Benji would be a marvellous addition for active retirees.
Benji is great with all dogs big and small. He will greet dogs then leave them be; he's not much of an affectionate dog with other dogs and is definitely more of a people dog. He is not suited to a home with cats or other small animals as he chases them. He does need to be fed away from other dogs
Benji absolutely loves his walks and since being in care has built up to walks of 3/4 of an hour. When you take him in the car, he thinks he's going for a walk and will whine until you stop and let him out for a mooch around. Once he's had a walk he is great in the car. He loves soft toys and playing tug of war.
Benji loves sleeping next to his human's bed at night and you don't hear a peep out of him, he's as good as gold, he just wants to be close by to you. He is 99% toilet trained if taken outside first thing and before bedtime, and uses a doggy door once shown where it is.
Whoever adopts beautiful Benji will have the best friend anyone could wish for.
MEDICAL NOTES
Adoption fee includes vet check, vaccination, microchip (including transfer of ownership fee), flea and worm treatment and sterilisation.
On arrival into care, Benji had several procedures undertaken to improve his life. Benji had 10 teeth removed, along with a dental clean and scale. He has had a hernia removed from his chest, a cyst removed from his head, a benign melanoma removed and various lipomas (harmless lumps) removed.
He does seem to have a slight sensitivity around his paws, and will lick them. This may be improved by an antihistamine every other day and a sensitive skin diet.
ADOPTION NOTES
Our adoption process for the successful applicant includes a meet and greet, (including your own dog if applicable), a home check (or photos of your yard and fencing to be supplied to us if not local), and a two week trial period to ensure your chosen dog is the right fit for your home.
All adoption fees must be deposited into our SAFE Bunbury bank account in full before adoption trial starts (we cannot accept cash). The Adoption Agreement will be emailed to the selected applicant in advance of meeting your chosen dog.
After the adoption trial period has been completed we arrange transfer of ownership of the dog's microchip to the new owner, and email out the vet records.
