About Simba
Simba: The Little King in Training
Behold, Simba, an 8-month-old Red Heeler with the heart of a lion and the spirit of a king. Just like his namesake from the Pride Lands, Simba is an absolute sweetheart who adores attention and is eager to learn. With a little training, he will grow into a stunning and well-mannered prince of your household.
Simba's perfect pride would include another desexed, relaxed, and older dog. He thrives in the company of calm adult dogs who can show him the ways of the kingdom. However, young and excitable pups are a bit too much for Simba right now, so off-lead dog parks are not part of his kingdom yet.
Enrolling Simba in a puppy school would be the perfect way for you to learn and grow together, just as Simba learned from his friends Timon and Pumbaa. Older kids would be ideal companions for Simba, helping with his training and joining him on exciting daily adventures.
Simba's ideal home has no cats, as he prefers to rule his pride without feline subjects. He loves to explore the savanna, or in this case, your neighborhood, and enjoys fun walks where he can stretch his legs and take in the sights.
Embrace Simba into your pride, and watch as he grows into the mighty and noble king he was always meant to be.
To book a meet and greet with Simba please phone 5441-2209 or email barcreception@bendigo.vic.gov.au . Due to the high volume of emails received, enquiries with a request for a specific appointment with phone details included will receive a response as priority over generic applications which state they are interested in meeting an animal.

Adoption details
BARC adoption officers will work with you to help you find a dog or cat that matches your needs, they will discuss things like yard fencing, exercise requirements, other pets and family members, lifestyle factors, and breed experience. To help make this as quick and easy as possible, we ask you complete and adoption questionnaire (located on our website, or you can complete on when you visit). This helps ensure that we are introducing you to the most suitable animals we have available.
We encourage all members of the household to attend a meet and greet with a pet prior to adopting an animal. If the animal being adopted is a dog, we will also require existing dogs in the household to attend the shelter as part of the meet and greet.
Holds can not be placed on animals over the phone, and can only be applied at the discretion of management.
