Calling chocolate (Lab) lovers. Champion Choco is in the Vic Dog Rescue house and looking for his new support team. This thoroughly gorgeous boy is all you can dream of in a Lab – super-friendly, enthusiastic, occasionally slobbery and often hungry. Choco is raw cocoa, just waiting for someone to help him become the refined canine citizen he will be.
Choco is housetrained and used to family life, but has had no basic training. He loves his daily walks and is pretty good on lead, although he occasionally pulls when he wants to say hello to new friends. Choco adores other dogs, particularly those of similar size and enthusiasms to him, and loves a good romp at the dog park. At home, Choco enjoys cuddling with his people and snoozing with his legs in the air. He is a little anxious traveling in the car, but this is likely to change with more experience of life's adventures, and as he settles into his paws. Choco is still a puppy and a bit prone to chewing on bedding and other delights, so care will need to be taken to separate him from precious human things and provide him with better options to occupy his mouth and brain as he learns the ropes in his new digs.
Choco will do well in a variety of homes where he has people committed to his further development. He has come into care chunkier than is good for him and his new people will need to support him to lose some kilos so he enjoys continued good health. Choco needs basic training and some work on his loose leash walking. Given his sociable nature, he may benefit from group obedience training or similar activities that broaden his social circle while teaching him new skills. Choco is young, strong and energetic and will need regular exercise, tough toys and games that help him exercise his mind and body. Given his love of other dogs, he may do well living with another well-matched canine, but will need dedicated attention to his training. This will be mutually rewarding for all involved and will help build bonds between Choco and his new people. This boy has a truly divine temperament and will be a willing and happy student.
If you think your household has what it takes to be Champion Choco's new cheer squad, he would love you to submit an adoption application.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed, and flea treated. All necessary vetwork such as dentals, surgery, eye treatment are also carried out. We are no longer heartworm testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.

We look forward to receiving your application.
