About Duke - 22 Month Old Cattle Dog X
If you are looking for the handsomest boy to be your new best friend – I have the perfect guy for you. Meet Duke, or Dukie as we affectionately call him. He’s an Australian Cattle Dog cross who is almost 2 years old and is looking for his furever home.
Duke is an affectionate, loyal, and intelligent boy with a zest for life. His perfect day would be spent going for walks with his human besties, playing with doggy friends and, of course playing endless games of fetch or having tug-o-wars with his favourite rope and chewing on his squeaky toys, ending the day with plenty of snuggles.
Duke walks like a pro on lead, however he hasn’t had a lot of off lead exposure yet except in designated dog parks, as we’re still working on building his self-confidence. He is a quick learner and has mastered several tricks already like sit, lay down, stay, give paw, touch, and come.
Duke is exceptionally good with other dogs, however he is cautious around new people. When playing with other dogs, he tends to be submissive and will happily share his toys. He will rely on his humans to provide guidance and reassurance when meeting new people and has been known to react by growling out of fear. He will require a patient and understanding leader who can provide the support he needs to build his confidence. With the right person by his side, he will undoubtedly flourish.
This big softie fellow dreams of a forever home where he is allowed indoors to be a part of the family. Duke deserves a home that understands the importance of mental stimulation and physical activity in keeping a dog like him happy and healthy. His ideal human companion would be someone with experience into the unique traits of working breeds, recognizing their need for engagement and purpose.
Duke is happy to be left alone for a few hours at a time and doesn’t display any destructive behaviours when left alone. At his current foster carers home, Duke is used to having someone home most of the time so for full time workers, it is preferred that Duke has another dog to keep him company.
If you're familiar with the spirited nature of working breeds and are ready to embark on a rewarding journey of companionship, consider opening your heart and home to Duke. In doing so, you'll gain more than a pet; you'll gain a devoted family member who will cherish every moment spent by your side.
Duke's adoption fee is $500. He has been desexed, treated for fleas and worms, and is microchipped. He is in foster care in Fern Bay, NSW.
