Meet Bugsy, an easy going & friendly girl...
About: Bugsy is a sweet as they come & just as soft. She is a friendly, happy girl whose bursting at the seams to meet you & become your friend. She is outgoing and confident as well as playful and social.
Bugsy is smart but her excitement may get in the way of her focus. She loves to cozy up, give you lots of kisses & cuddles and engage with people from all walks of life.
Bugsy is suitable for people who are first time owners, and she is suitable for any household too. She is easy-going & adaptable to any change to her routine & environment.
Ideal Home: Bugsy is fine to live in any property type/dwelling and yard size is of no concern to her either, just as long as the fencing is high & secure to allow her to play safely.
Inside access is a must for this slightly needy princess as she craves interaction from people and is most content when she gets it.
Family: Bugsy is open to meet kids of any age and is fine to live with people who work full-time hours as she is fairly low maintenance however keeping in mind that she is part Cavalier and these breeds usually have a strong need for human interaction & companionship. Separation anxiety may become present as Bugsy forms bonds with her new family members – while this is not a guaranteed behaviour, and whilst we have not seen this behaviour in care, it is important to note this as it may arise once she is settled into her new home.
Furry Friends: Bugsy is open to meet dogs. During her dog assessment she was comfortable and offered lots of play bows and got the zoomies from excitement of meeting & making a new friend.
As we cannot test, we are unsure how Bugsy would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of her new owners.
Training & Development: Bugsy would also benefit from post-adoption training, such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience and group classes to ensure that her dog social skills remain sharp.
With a little extra training, Bugsy could be the type of dog that you could take to a dog friendly café or social setting.
Bugsy knows her name and also knows how to ‘sit’ and is learning ‘stay’. Bugsy is also food motivated and treats will be a great training resource to have on hand.
As mentioned before Bugsy loves people and she is known to jump up for cuddles & attention.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Bugsy’s energy levels are high, she is young & playful & would benefit from exercise, play or walks from 20-60mins per day. Keep in mind that Bugsy is part Beagle and may require more exercise than your usual dog. Food puzzles/games would be a great idea so she can utilise her strong sense of smell & keep her mind stimulated.
Bugsy walks well on a lead with minimal pulling.
Staff Comments: Bugsy is a sweet, social girl who craves attention. She is food motivated & gentle. Bugsy would benefit from ongoing mental stimulation to kerb her typical Beagle behaviours but overall, she is a fairly easy-going girl with no restrictions.
Medical notes
No known pre-existing conditions.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
The adoption fee for dogs covers C3 vaccination, health check, heartworm testing, desexing, micro-chipping, and registration.
The adoption fee for cats covers F3 vaccination, health check, desexing, micro-chipping, and registration.
