About Benji
Introducing the handsome Benji!
Benji is a Maltese x Chihuahua born 10th January 2018.
Benji was brought in to us as a stray and unfortunately his owner did not come to collect him. When Benji was first brought into the facility he was very guarded and tense when approached by staff. Although he has made great progress since being with us he can still become tense in certain situations. For this reason we feel he would be best suited to a family with either children over 12yrs or no children. Benji has shown himself to be generally a sweet boy and he can become quite playful with those he's comfortable with. He seems to get quite uncomfortable when placing a lead on him, but he this is slowly easing.
Although Benji was slightly more comfortable with smaller dogs than he was with large, he didn't test well with either. Even though both test dogs approached him relaxed & playful, Benji would growl & snarl at them. We believe he would be more comfortable being the only spoilt "child" at home.
Benji was mostly uninterested when doing his cat testing, however given his reaction to dogs & his history with pocket pets, we feel he would be best suited to being the only animal at home.
Benji has shown no signs of food aggression or separation anxiety while at the facility.
Benji's adoption fee is $500 and includes his desexing and lifetime registration.
Benji is also regularly treated for flea and worms and is up to date with his vaccinations

Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
Congratulations, you have now saved a life!
