About CJ
Introducing the handsome CJ!
CJ is a Border Collie x Cattle Dog born approx 19th September 2023.
CJ was brought into the facility as an unmicrochipped stray & no one came looking for him. CJ was incredibly scared & did not trust humans when he arrived. With slow & consistent socialising we have been able to gain his trust. He's now making friends with our volunteers & visitors to the facility as well. As we don't know much about CJ's history, we are recommending a home where they will continue to guide him with love & patience. CJ is already house trained & he loves playing fetch. Given his breed, he will need an active family who can stimulate him mentally & physically.
CJ tested very well with other dogs and became very excited when being introduced. When another dog was growling at him, he barked & moved away. He was very excited to meet the smaller boys & was play bowing and gently bopped one of them on the head. We believe that he could be suitable to live with other dogs, or be the only spoilt "child" at home. If you have a friendly dog at home, we will need to do a meet & greet with them to ensure they get along before going home.
CJ seemed unfazed/scared of the cats. He looked in their enclosure & slowly backed away. We believe that with a slow & controlled introduction he could be suitable to live with cats. *Please note: our cat testing is done through an enclosure, we cannot guarantee how he will react if they were free roaming in front of him.
He is currently untested with pocket pets.
CJ has shown no signs of food aggression towards humans, however he has shown signs of separation anxiety while at the facility. This is usually while he's in the exercise runs & he settles when he's back in his kennel.
CJ's adoption fee is $450 and includes his desexing and lifetime registration.
CJ is also regularly treated for flea and worms and is up to date with his vaccinations

Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
Congratulations, you have now saved a life!
