About Axel
Meet Axel 🐶
PERSONALITY:
Axel is a busy & fun-loving guy, his foster mum calls him a giant puppy dog. He adores his humans and will follow you around the house to keep an eye on you. He is always looking to please you and receive pats and scratches. He enjoys playing fetch (though he isn’t always great at bringing the ball back) and he is an absolute water baby who loves the beach! He loves other dogs a little too much and can be overexcited and annoying for them so he is looking for a home that will continue his socialisation and training around politely greeting & playing with other dogs. Axel is in foster care with an older female dog who tells him off when she doesn’t want to play, he responds very well to this and now leaves her alone (most of the time).
TRAINING: (sleep, toilet, crate training, commands/tricks, leash walking)
Axel is toilet trained and sleeps all through the night behind a dog gate inside. He rarely jumps up and hasn’t been very destructive so far in care - has only destroyed a few toys. He sits for food but otherwise he doesn’t appear to have had much training before coming into care. He is working on his recall and can have selective hearing, particularly when out & about on his walks. He has not been trusted off lead yet but is working on recall training around the house. Axel needs work on his loose lead walking and socialisation as he gets very excited and pulls to greet every dog you pass on your walk as well as sniff everything. Axel is VERY food motivated making him easy to train.
PERFECT HOME: (are they tested on children, other dogs & animals, level of exercise, acreage/suburbia, need another dog?)
Axel is looking for a home with work breed experience to help him with his basic training & commands. He needs a patient & understanding home that can give him the time he needs to settle into a new environment and a family that has a lot of time to spend with him. He is an inside/outside dog in foster care and doesn’t fret when left alone with his furry foster sister. He has started crate training in care which is very beneficial for him to help him learn to settle & relax. He is not suited to a home with a small dog due to his high energy play style. He may settle better when left alone with a calm & confident dog but having another dog in his forever home is not essential. He’s likely not suited to small children as he is a big silly puppy who could knock them over. He is looking for someone to love him as much as he offers love, and hopes to find his forever home as your best friend 🐾🤎
