Hi friends! My name is Asher. At just 16 weeks old, my breeder dumped my litter and I on a road, covered in fleas and ticks. We were terrified and sent to the local pound as we had nowhere else to go. Thankfully, the pound works closely with Off The Chain K9 Rescue Qld and so we reached safety!
Since coming into care with my siblings, I've been a pleasure to care for; my foster carer has worked hard on giving me a great start to life. I like to spend my days exploring the yard, napping and wrestling with my furry foster siblings. At night, I am a really good boy! I like to hang out with the other dogs on their beds, snuggle up on the couch to watch some tv with my humans, and then at bed time I love my crate and sleep well through the night. I'm working on my house training but haven't had any accidents inside in a long time.
I'm a playful and adventurous boy with a very cute bunny hop when I'm excited. I have a zest for life and can't wait to explore the world by your side! I get along great with the adult dogs here (large breeds both male and female). I am also learning to be respectful with the cat here, and have been exposed to chickens (they aren't free range but I was quiet at the fence). I love to come for short trips around the property and help with the errands; loading firewood etc and my human siblings are great and I'm very patient and loving with them- even letting them push me around in their baskets on bicycles. I love to play with my rope toy, and am working on my 'fetch' skills. I travel well in the car and stay in my spot. I'm a very happy boy.
I'm quickly learning the ropes and have been exposed to many new things since being in care such as baths, car rides, and vet trips. I would love to get out for an adventure 3-4 times a week, to run sniff and roll and go on daily walks/runs with you! Myself and siblings are a bit of a mixed breed; I am a kelpie x with a stumpy tail so likely cattle dog... I am a shorty and will grow to a medium size.
I would like to be behind a 5ft fence or higher so that as I grow, I am not tempted to escape the yard. I've made no effort to leave the yard so far however! Being a young dog, I am going to grow up however you allow me to- so it's important to spend your early weeks with me getting my routine and training down-pat. I am a smart pup who is a keen learner and will make you very happy!

Adoption details
Before applying, please consider and finalise the following: real estate approval, fence repair if needed, outside shelter areas and look into the dog's breed dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed.

Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applications may meet the dogs. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the dog at your home or in a public place. If you have other animals they should please be at the meet.
If at the meet, you and the dog get along- you have the option of either taking the dog on the spot (in exchange for the full adoption fee paid upfront, and contract signed)- or placing the dog on hold for up to 2 days without any holding fee applicable. When adoption begins you will be provided with 7 days worth of food for the dog, as well as what brand and type of food it is, so that you may change their diet carefully and slowly, or purchase more, if needed.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold dogs for 3 days or longer, without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the dog, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters and so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit non refundable to avoid time-wasters, especially when it comes to puppies under 5 months of age. The $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the dog. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you pay a $100 holding fee so we can hold the dog for a week- the day you collect the dog you will sign and adoption contract, and pay the remaining $350 fee of which $50 is non-refundable.
During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must notify OTC immediately and present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic in your area so OTC can cover any treatment needed. At the completion of your adoption trial period, OTC will send you a copy of your signed contract and relevant vet documents.
