Meet Frankie, a portly princess who will make you laugh!
About: Previously known as ‘Ninja’, this girl is anything but agile and you all may remember that she was also unceremoniously tied to the gates of the ACF & left there overnight, in the cold, without a jacket, food or a bed.
Newly re-named Frankie, we decided to help this girl shed her past by giving her a new name & new identity.
Frankie is so much fun, she is dangerously hilarious and such a happy girl despite what has happened to her. She is so agreeable & happy to go with the flow. Frankie is friendly, loves her human friends & loves to shower them with affection.
Frankie is however a bit portly and may need to lose a few kay-gees. She loves her belly being rubbed and loves to lay on her back and wiggle in the grass. She also likes to think outside of the box, for example, “why do I have to walk down the hill when I can just roll down it instead?” – and that is exactly what she did, taking out a few plants along the way…
Frankie is fine for first time dog owners who are willing to assist her on her weight loss journey. She is also suitable to any household environment because she is easy-going & adaptable.
For the active, adventure seekers, she would love to come on these expeditions with you; in fact, we encourage it! She will happily trot alongside you whilst you’re on a scooter or bike.
Ideal Home: Frankie is fine to live in any property type or dwelling and yard size is of no concern either, just as long as the fencing is high & secure & she received adequate exercise.
Access to inside the home as a must, as stated before Frankie adores being with her human friends, being inside will allow her to spend max time with them all whilst feeling like part of the family.
Family: Frankie is open to meet kids of any age but families with small kids should take note of her love of tennis balls as she may snatch them out of small hands.
Frankie is fine to live with people who work part-time or full-time hours.
Furry Friends: Frankie is best to be the only dog in the home. She is fine to walk past dogs without any fuss, but she is not interested in making dog friends and would much rather be the only one in your life as other dogs make her feel uncomfortable.
As we cannot test, we are unsure how Frankie would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of her new owners.
Training & Development: Post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands & obedience would be beneficial to Frankie also.
Frankie is still learning her new name, but to be fair she didn’t know her old name either, but she does know how to ‘sit’. She is also food motivated albeit a little picky, treats would be a great training tool to have on hand as she does respond to them gently. Frankie also may jump on you to say hello because she is just so excited to meet you.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Despite her size, Frankie's energy levels are medium, and she does love to play & run around. So, exercise, play or walking would be beneficial to keep her happy & healthy, anything from 20-60mins a day will be fine! Frankie also loves toys, especially tennis balls - in fact she likes them so much that she may snatch them out of your hand.
Frankie walks ok on a lead but will pull if she is excited. She is best walked on a martingale.
Staff Comments: Frankie is a very sweet little girl who loves to roll around in the grass. She loves walks & people.
Medical notes
Overweight.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
