About Duke
We're so excited to introduce you to Duke, a handsome fella with a sense of humour, a heart full of love, and a happy aura that lights up any room. Duke is a total goofball and doesn't seem to realize his own size – he may be a big boy, but he'll still try to wiggle his way onto your lap for a cuddle.
His playful nature makes him an excellent dinner companion. If the table is laid, you can bet Duke will be there, curiously resting his chin on the table, ready to join in on the fun. He is also happy to entertain with his squeaky toys while the family eats.
He is a quick learner and already knows some of the basics like 'sit' and 'shake', and is currently learning 'stay', which he is starting to respond to well. Admittedly, he tends to bark at every car or bike that scrolls up the street, but that is his job as a guardian and protector. You'll find this funny canine giving you a run for your money when it comes to staying energized.
Duke is not only intelligent but also very loyal. He has strong guardian instincts and will quickly become your best friend and protector, always ready to offer a comforting hug. He would love to be part of an active family who can give him plenty of space to run around.
Duke is amazing in every way and, without a doubt, needs a loving family. He would flourish the most if the potential adopters live in a home with a large backyard or, if possible, on acreage – imagine the games of fetch you could play! Duke's new family needs to be prepared for loads of personality, lots of entertaining moments, and tons of love coming your way.

This is in no way an obligation to adopt but simply gives us some more information about the home, family and lifestyle you have to offer a new pet.
As of 2017, Fresh Start Rescue are no longer placing dogs in homes with children under the age of 9 years old. We know this will frustrate many families looking to adopt, however for the safety of both those families and are beloved dogs, we have decided to put this measure into place.
