About Arlo
introducing Arlo, our super sweet, goofy, and cheeky teenage pup! This lively boy is on the lookout for a high-energy family to join.
Arlo is the life of the party, bursting with enthusiasm and always ready for fun. His exuberant and quirky personality will surely win over the right family, who will fall in love with this scruffy little fella.
Arlo is a Labrador x Terrier mix who adores people and is eager to learn
Favorite Activities:
• Playing tug
• Walks and runs
• Snoozing
• Having fun with his humans
• Tummy rubs
• Chasing balls
• Water play
Interaction with Humans:
Arlo is a social butterfly who loves people and other dogs. As a young teenager, he needs a family that can provide direction and consistency in training. While he can be excitable and mouthy, he is learning the rules of the home with firm boundaries and settles well with guidance. He enjoys playing tug, chasing balls, and going for walks. Arlo is a lovable, goofy dude with energy to burn, but he’s not suited for young kids due to his rambunctious nature.
Obedience/Training:
Arlo is eager to learn and has perfected sitting. He’s learning that all paws need to be on the ground for pets and would benefit from formal obedience training or an experienced owner willing to teach him. He knows commands like sit, mat, wait, and off, and is practicing down and staying on his mat. With great potential to be a wonderful pooch, Arlo tries his best to please and will bring many laughs with his quirky, cheeky ways. But please be mindful that Arlo does get excited to greet people and can be jumpy and a little mouthy when very stimulated with excitement so we are seeking a home with NO small children please!
Animal Social Skills:
Arlo can be unsure/ initially shy around some dogs on a first meet but soon engages in play once comfortable. He has been living with three other dogs and is learning to fit in. Initially reactive around food, he now understands that everyone gets their own bowls and feeding is supervised. He would do well with a chilled but playful female dog who can tolerate his teenage craziness. At the park, he’s drawn to other dogs but is practicing being dog-neutral and engaging more with his owner using high-value treats.
Independence:
Arlo enjoys company and can get a little whiny when left alone but settles quickly. He stays outside during the day while his foster mum works with no issues. Interactive toys like treat balls and long-lasting chews are beneficial for him. If he’s the only dog, he’d love a family that’s home more often than not and include him in family activities.
Food:
Arlo is fed high-quality puppy food and will remain on it for a few more months. He is treat-driven and practicing taking treats gently.
Hygiene/Toileting:
Arlo has a scruffy coat that requires regular brushing to keep it in top shape and remove the undercoat. A grooming session every six months is suggested. He tolerates baths well and is fully toilet trained, using the doggy door in the home.
Sleeping:
Arlo can sleep in a crate, settling well after a few minutes of whining. He also settles well on his dog bed in the doggy lounge room
Car Travel:
Arlo loves car rides, eagerly jumping in and traveling well.
Exercise:
Arlo needs both physical and mental stimulation. He receives daily basic obedience training and structured play, making him think during playtime. After a good play session, he’s happy to snooze for a while. Arlo is practicing off-leash walking and returns when called, especially with his pack. He loves swimming, sniffing, and exploring during walks.
Inside the Home:
Arlo can get a little excited indoors, so he’s practicing quiet time inside and staying on his mat with lots of treats and positive praise. He’s progressing well but likes to check for snacks on kitchen benches—he’s a cheeky one! Fully toilet trained and not destructive, he is supervised inside at all times. He loves self-play with his rope toys.

Ideal Home:
Arlo would thrive with an experienced owner who can continue his training with firm boundaries. His ideal home must be committed to meeting his energy needs with daily play and walks. Arlo is not suited for kids under 12 due to his mouthy and jumpy nature; dog-savvy kids are a must. An energetic family that loves outings and exercise, willing to take Arlo on adventures, is ideal. A family committed to training and mental stimulation is essential. No apartments or small yards will be considered; Arlo needs space to stretch his legs. He would do well with a young female dog that loves to play, as older dogs may not tolerate his energy.
We have not tested him with cats
Arlo will require a nice size yard with secure fencing and shade and shelter
Medical notes
No known pre-existing conditions.
