About Irwin
Irwin is ready to be your new best friend. If you love the working breed type but are looking for a dog who is both active and relaxed, then this is the boy for you.
Irwin has come from a rough background in far western NSW. He can be shy when first meeting new people; however, once he knows you, he is truly your best friend. Irwin’s family become his all and he is very loving and loyal. He often wonders over for some pats and likes to lie besides your feet if you’re working from home. Irwin comes out of his shell with his people and shows his bright and happy personality.
While in foster care, Irwin has brushed up on his basic training. Typical to his breed type, he is willing to please and he likes his treats. Irwin has good general obedience and walks nicely on the lead. He is toilet trained and crate trained, and he travels well in the car, waiting patiently to see where the journey takes him. Irwin is well-behaved at home and a pleasure to have around.
Irwin is looking for a new home which is quieter and calmer. He does best where there are little expectations from him to be a certain way and can be accepted just the way he is – he is already a good boy after all! Irwin’s new owners should have a calm energy about them. It should be an adult only home with fewer members but an older child (>15yo) or two would be ok too. Irwin is not suited to inner city life so will be looking for a suburban or rural lifestyle.
Irwin loves other dogs and could happily share his home with another doggie friend. He enjoys running around the yard playing and would enjoy a home where he can have some regular doggy playdates. If there is another dog in the home, they should already be fully trained and have a stable temperament so they can be a great role model. Irwin would do best with a female doggie companion with a happy personality and who would like to have some playtime with him. He is also fine to live as an only dog if his humans are home more often than not for companionship. Irwin is fine to be left alone or left crated if it’s just for a shorter period of time.
Irwin should be allowed inside to spend time with his family and will need a warm comfy bed inside to sleep on at night. He loves his fleecy blanket – he carries it around and is even able to wrap himself up in it for snooze time! Irwin enjoys daily exercise and mental stimulation as he is a working breed type; however, he knows how to chill out around the home as well – in fact, he is quiet for a working dog. He’d love a home where he gets out for a good walk, head out for a hike or has room to get those zoomies on. But at the end of the day, he’d love to just curl up besides his best friend – is that going to be you?

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
