Beautiful Mala is 1.5 years old and finds herself in need of a forever home. We rescued Mala from a rural pound just as her time was up, she has been spending time in foster care the last month.
When we first met Mala, it was clear that a human had been unkind to her, she would shudder and close her eyes when you would go to pat her head and was very shy. Over time, Mala has come out of her shell and has learned that humans are a source or love and fun, once you win her trust, Mala is incredibly affectionate. Mala is still a little cautious with strangers initially but is easily won over with treats or a game of fetch.
Mala has done a 180 and is such a people dog now, she adores her foster parents and follows them around everywhere, she doesn’t really like being on her own, and has proved to be a bit of a Houdini getting out of her crate so that she can come and snuggle with you on the bed instead. Mala would do best with someone home most of the time, she must be allowed inside and included as part of the family.
Mala loves to play and can get a little over-excited at times, she will jump up and mouth when you first get home and is still working on her manners. Mala is best suited to a home where everyone is over the age of 8 years old and who have experience living with a large-breed dog.
Mala is extremely clever, she knows her basic commands well and also has great recall, Mala is generally pretty good on lead, however, will occasionally pull when first getting to know a new place. Mala learns things very quickly and is motivated by both food and toys, she would love to undertake training with her new family, she may even like to get involved in dog sports like fly-ball or agility, she is always up for fun and learning something new.
Mala is looking for an active family that have a good-sized backyard where she can play fetch, she adores playing fetch and will do so, for hours and hours if you let her. Whilst having her physical exercise needs met is very important, Mala will also need to be kept mentally stimulated through enrichment, training and problem-solving games to keep her quick mind busy and out of mischief.
Mala is a little conflicted with other dogs, when introduced slowly, she is happy to be in their presence and even play, however she can be a little worried about meeting them at first, and particularly isn’t a fan of small fluffies. Mala is currently living with another dog, she could live with a friendly male dog in her new home but would also be happy as the only dog in the home, she is more of a people dog anyway!
Mala does not like cats and wants to chase them, she needs a home without cats or other small animals.
This gorgeous girl is a happy go lucky pocket rocket that is ready to join a forever family and be their German Shadow, following them everywhere! Mala is a ready-made fetching friend that is extremely clever and ready to show off her skills to impress. Once she is done playing fetch or helping you around the house, you can bet Mala will be climbing up for a cuddle and snuggle on the couch and bed.

Adoption details
We offer a 'Foster to Adopt' program. This means that the dog will go to live with their adoptive family for 4 weeks to ensure it is the perfect match for both the dog and new family. After the 4 weeks is complete, if all has gone well, the adoption is formalised and your new doggy companion is officially yours!
If you are interested in adopting from us, we ask that you fill out the Adoption Application form on our website (via the link provided below) with as much detail as possible, including the name of the dog you are interested in.
We do not rehome female dogs to a home where there is an existing female dog. Whilst there are always exceptions, it is generally unwise to have two females together; two males can sort it out, a male and a female can sort it out, but when two females fight, the results can be disastrous. For this reason, following the advice from numerous Veterinary behaviourists, as well as our own experience from the last eight years, we do not rehome females into homes with other female dogs.
All of our dogs are de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated
Puppies (2 months to 4 months) - $1000
Puppies (4 to 6 months) - $800
Adolescents (6 months to 1 year) - $700
