Meet Sadie, a bouncy girl who just wants to be your friend...
About: Sadie is a friendly girl who happy, smart, playful & excited to make friends.
She may be a little anxious when you first meet her though. We are unsure of her past life, but Sadie is such a sweet, sensitive girl, and despite being dubbed a bit of a ‘Nervous Nelly’ she is still open to meet you. She may just need a little bit of time to warm up to you first. Sadie appears to be a bit wary of men that she doesn't know.
Sadie is best suited to someone who has owned dogs before & has experience. Sadie is also fine to live in any household environment and would make a great dog for active people as her curious nature will make going for walks, runs or hikes a very rewarding experience for her.
Ideal Home: Sadie is fine to live in any property type, or dwelling. And yard size is of no concern either just as long as the fencing Is high & secure.
Free access to both inside the home as well as out is important to Sadie as spending time with her new family is high on her priority list.
Family: Sadie is open to meet kids from 15 years & up. Reason for this is because of her anxiety when meeting new people as she needs a small amount of time to settle because you get to see her true self.
Sadie is also fine to live with people who work full-time hours.
Furry Friends: Sadie is open to meet other dogs. During her dog assessment she did really good with minimal reaction but she still notices that the other dog is nearby. Sadie was able to check in with her handler, she didn't fixate but she is a little bouncy around other dogs so she may need a few adjustments to her manners so that she doesn't get the other dog offside.
As we cannot test, we are unsure how Sadie would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of her new owners.
Training & Development: Sadie would benefit from post-adoption training, such as training at home to cover basic commands & obedience & group classes to assist with her anxiety around new people & her manners when meeting other dogs.
Sadie is still learning her name but she knows 'sit' & when it comes to treats she mightn't always take them gently unless you say the word 'gentle'. Sadie may also jump up for attention, or to say hi, but this is not often.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Sadie's energy levels are medium & she would also benefit from play time, exercise or walks from 20-30mins a day to keep her happy & healthy. Sadie loves to play with soft toys & tennis balls.
Sadie walks ok on a lead, but if she is excited she will pull & bounce around. She is best walked with a martingale or on a harness for additional control.
Staff Comments: Sadie is a very sweet dog but she's a little unsure of life. She can be nervous around some strangers but still tries her best to do what you want her to do. She tried her best to not be nervous. She looks to her handler for confidence.
Post Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
Medical notes
No known pre-existing conditions.
