About Lisha
Meet Mama Lisha!! Lisha is an absolutely delightful dog who is ready to meet her new family.
Lisha is a cuddly girl who will flop into your lap once she feels safe with you. She is also independent enough to be happy in her own company and has shown no signs of any separation anxiety so far. Being a guarding breed, Lisha is quick to alert you if there’s anything happening around the neighbourhood that you need to be aware of but her guard duties generally stop when it's time for bed. Lisha is a relatively low energy girl when spending time at home. She's a lover of long naps, a game of fetch in the yard and play with some squeaky toys. She doesn't have a tendency to jump on people and will instead choose to sit at your feet and give an enthusiastic "shake" to ask for some pats.
Being food motivated and a fast learner, Lisha has shown that any future training will be a breeze. She already knows how to sit, shake, wait at a curb or when requested to on walks and wait for her dinner. In foster care Lisha has been having two walks a day while wearing a harness. She loves to explore new routes and puts her nose to good use. She can be wary of dogs and people on her walks (we believe going for a walk is quite a new experience for Lisha) so she wouldn't suit a very densely populated area, however she is not difficult to manage and engages well with her handler. She has had interactions with a few dogs on her walks and showed no aggression, she just seems unsure of what to do. She travels very well in the car but takes a little convincing to hop in initially.
Lisha’s ideal family would be compassionate of her past but supportive for her future. She would thrive undertaking positive based training from a confident handler who is dedicated to her ongoing socialisation out in the world. She has adapted incredibly well in her foster home to being an inside dog, including toileting outside and sleeping comfortably through the night inside in her crate (with the doors open). In her forever home Lisha will need to be allowed inside to spend time with her family. She can be wary of new people in her space so her family will need to be comfortable advocating for her personal space while she sniffs out any guests. Once she knows she's safe, she's the absolute best dog you can imagine.
Lisha has not been tested with cats or pocket pets. She would benefit from being the only dog in your home and with older kids who understand how to give her space when she needs it. Lisha is a healthy weight and is in overall good health.
If you feel like you are Lisha’s perfect forever family, please apply today! She can’t wait to meet you!
