About Buddy
This laid back looking fellow is Buddy - best mate, connoisseur of all things comfortable, and the perfect kelpie for a long time lover, first time owner of this wonderful breed.
Buddy grew up in a rural town on a big house block and he loves his canine friends. While he was a bit of a typical destructive working dog puppy, with plenty of opportunity for high intensity exercise, he grew into a nice relaxed dog that enjoyed the sun while it was out and appreciated his job keeping his people company.
A couple of years ago, Buddy moved to a farm - every kelpie’s dream life! The fresh air, open space, and sudden appearance of large, fast animals in Buddy’s life awakened something in him that he didn’t know existed… the desire to herd!
Since then, despite his lack of finesse and very little understanding of what he is doing and why, Buddy has taken to showing off his herding ‘skills’ by trying them out on the local horses, kangaroos, and he’d probably even try to herd cats if given the chance.
Buddy’s not cut out to be a working dog because he loves pet life - and couches - far too much. So, his humans have made the tough choice to try and find him a home where Buddy can live his best life away from animals that bring out his kelpie instincts.
Buddy is looking for a return to his life of old while keeping the best parts of his new life too - he dreams of a lifestyle block on the rural fringe with plenty of space to run in a large secure yard, with car rides and all the dog friends he can find.
He has zero concerns about motorbikes, tractors, and other loud man-made machines so Buddy would consider life in a country town, or even on a farm with a dog proof (fully meshed) house yard would work, as long as you don’t mind managing and guiding Buddy when he is out and about around animals he may like to herd.
Buddy loves people and dogs, so big families and canine siblings are perfectly fine by him too, no matter where he lives!
If you’ve always wanted a kelpie but would really love the intensity dialled down just a notch, Buddy may be your dream dog and he is waiting for you to get in touch.

Adoption details
When enquiring about a pet listed with Home2Home, your enquiry goes directly to the pet’s owner - the person who knows them best!
It’s a great opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the pet, including its likes and dislikes, needs, and how it may fit into your lifestyle and family.
From here, the owner will be in touch with you to chat a bit more about their pet, and if they feel your home is the best fit, they will arrange a ‘meet and greet’ for you all to get to know each other.
Should this prove successful, arrangements will be made for the pet to move straight from its current home into yours upon payment of the adoption fee.
The adoption fee is paid directly to PetRescue (via a secure payment link), and assists us to continue to run and develop programs to assist pet owners, just like Home2Home.
Following adoption - change of ownership paperwork will be completed, and proof of vaccination, microchipping and desexing (if applicable, as indicated on listing) will be provided.
