About Ireland
***WE'RE ALWAYS ON THE LOOKOUT FOR FOSTER CARERS TO HELP US OUT SO IF YOU THINK YOU CAN PROVIDE A TEMPORARY HOME FOR ONE OF OUR BEAUTIFUL CATS PLEASE LET US KNOW. THE MORE CARERS WE HAVE AVAILABLE TO LEND A HAND THE MORE CATS WE CAN HELP REHOME***
Little Ireland is one of the cutest cats you'll ever meet. As soon as you see those big eyes, cute nose and white whiskers you'll be instantly in love.
Ireland was found as a stray cat living under a deck and was quite sick when he first arrived, so he can be a bit shy around people at first due to all the poking and prodding we did to keep him alive, but once he has a chance to settle into his new environment, builds a bit of confidence and gets to know his new human, he starts to really appreciate your company and touch.
Ireland looooves to play so this is a great way to bond. If you get the toys out he will quickly forget his fears and will soon be running around your ankles. He loves balls so if you have a few of those lying around she will happily chase them around for hours. If you have a cat wand or a toy on a bit of string he will happily chase that around until your arms get sore.
Ireland can be a bit shy at first but once he gets to know you and builds a bit of confidence he becomes very affectionate. One day you will randomly find him sitting on your desk, as if by magic, purring loudly and wanting attention. He loves a scratch behind the ears and will even roll over and let you rub his belly eventually.
Lately he has been sleeping in a tube right next to my desk and he has started coming out and jumping on my desk while I'm working and wanting attention. He knows full well that I cannot resist patting him for very long so he just stares at me with those adorable eyes and before long my willpower breaks and it's all over. Once he's had a scratch he goes back into his little cave and goes back to sleep.
He also has the most adorable purr which is just impossible to resist.
Ireland isn't a lap cat at this stage but I'm sure that given enough time and love, and as he starts to get older, he will become even more confident and affectionate. I very much believe that one day he will decide it's time to jump upon a lap and never look back. We have had some luck picking him up and giving him a cuddle. He will tolerate it for a little bit but clearly wants to jump down. This will also improve with time and persistence.
Ireland also gets on really well with other cats and would be a perfect fit for someone seeking a companion for their current cat. He loves to play with other cats and you'll see him running around doing zoomies with others in the evening as the sun goes down. If you're looking to adopt a duo he gets on really well with a couple of our other cats, Astrid and Penguin.
Even though Ireland is still very young he's actually a very mature soul. He's not destructive and mischievous like most young cats but is rather very relaxed for a cat his age. He is always keen to play but otherwise he's happy to chill out and do his own thing.

A little about us:
Urban Feline Australia is a newly established cat rescue service, run by one passionate individual with the help of friends and volunteers, that is dedicated to keeping cats out of kill shelters and helping them find loving forever homes. We specialize in helping "surrenders" which are cats that have lived with humans previously but for one reason or another their owners are unfortunately no longer able to look after them. We take your pets into our amazing cat sanctuary where they're treated with love and affection until the right forever home is found for them.
Urban Feline Australia is not a large company with government resources, a large facility and a lot of staff. Our tiny rescue is a one man operation run from the safety of our own home. We do this for the love of animals and our only agenda is to save as many cats as we can. We rely heavily on cooperation from friends, other rescues, our amazing foster carers and the kindness of strangers to survive. Every cent we receive from donations and adoption fees is used to keep our rescue running and cover the cost of food, water, litter, equipment and vet bills for the animals in our care.
We are doing as much as we can right now but our dream is to one day be able to purchase a larger property or facility that would allow us to be able to save the lives of many more cats in need. Perhaps even open a cat cafe so that we can spread our message to a wider audience.
We have recently created a Go Fund Me towards this end so if you would like to donate towards our cause please follow the below link.
