About Burton
This scruffy beauty goes by the name of Burton and whoever ends up with this little stunner is going to be a very lucky family! He is cuddly, affectionate, playful and smart. What more could you want in a dog?
Burton came from rural NSW and has been learning all about life in the big smoke. He has been enjoying home life and getting used to all those creature comforts. He LOVES a snuggle on the couch or a play in the backyard. This boy is just always happy. He absolutely loves his toys and is always up for a game of tug with anyone who will oblige. Burton is Mr Social and loves everyone he meets whether they be men, women or kids and he will soak up any attention on offer.
Burton has been enjoying his daily walks and is quite confident out and about considering Sydney life is very new to him. His foster carer takes him on many fun adventures and his new family should be looking for a dog who they want to take out daily for a decent walk and go on adventures to new and exciting places. At home, he is very well mannered and is not a barker or destructive. He sleeps peacefully throughout the night and is happy to entertain himself during the day if you’re busy around the home. He walks well on leash and knows some basic training, but will need further work on recall especially if there are birds around as he finds them fun to chase. He is toilet trained and travels well in the car which is a bonus!
Additionally, he is also very dog social and has enjoyed meeting dogs of all ages and sizes out and about. He is currently living with 2 other dogs at home who he gets on well with and enjoys a good play when they are up for it. However, he has displayed some low level resource guarding of the couch, so we got a trainer in to assess this. The feedback was that if he is to live with other dogs in the home, his new owners will need to ensure they have boundaries in place during the settling in period to ensure Burton doesn’t get too big for his boots. He will be fine as either an only dog or with other dogs, but any other resident dogs should be older than him and used to living with other dogs in the home. Burton would enjoy chances to socialise with other dogs outside of the home too and would be a great buddy to take to cafes or to social events with friends! He is just a really fun little dude to have around and will be sure to put a smile on anyones face he meets.
He is also cat social so will be fine to live in a home with cats. He really enjoys his human company and struggled a little bit with separation anxiety when he arrived into care- nothing terrible like noisy barking, escaping or destruction, but he will need a home where someone is home more often than not to help him settle in and find his new routine. We are looking for a dog experienced family who will continue his basic training and continue to show him all the amazing things the world has to offer.
Burton will slot into a lot of homes as he is such a fun and charismatic boy. He would be ok with dog savvy kids as long as they are for some games in the back yard and snuggles! Burton loves his yard so we feel a home with a yard is best for him, but he will require a home where he is allowed inside as part of the family, especially at nighttime. He already knows how to use a doggy door so will have no issues coming and going as needed. He is a lovely 6kg in size and only requires brushing to maintain his lovely coat.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
