Beautiful Smudge :)
Our lovely Smudge is such a sweet soul & has been through so much in her young life. It is really important to us that we find her exactly the right home. Her new guardian needs to have a clear understanding of what it means to share your life with a working breed. She is a bright, energetic girl who needs daily exercise as well as mental enrichment.
She has also experienced, in one of her previous homes, people who let her down by handling her in a harsh & harmful way. She takes her time to build up trust & is looking for a special person who displays understanding, patience & kindness. Once her trust begins to build again, you start to see a whole new dog. Knowledge of dog body language & behaviour is really important when it comes to reading the emotional states of our dogs.
An ideal home for Smudge would be one with heaps of space! She just loves to race around but will settle nicely after draining some of that working dog energy.
One of Smudge's favourite things to do is to snuggle up to her favourite people, she is desperate to feel wanted & loved. Shelter life can be lonely & isolating for these amazingly intelligent & sensitive creatures & the nights can be long.
Smudge prefers the company of calm, sociable dogs who are not too "in-your-face". She has several dog mates at the shelter who she enjoys going on walks with & having a good game of chase!
Giving her the opportunity to have positive experiences & gradual exposure to situations that she may perceive as worrying, would be very useful. A willingness to continue with her ongoing positive reinforcement training is vital. Smudge has been working on her leash manners but needs continued guidance.
Smudge needs a calm, patient, understanding & kind new home where she can blossom & thrive into the wonderful girl that we know she is. She deserves the absolute best :)

2) Visit the RSPCA Queensland adoption site at www.rspcaqld.org.au/adopt
3) Search for the animal either by type or location
4) View the animal's profile, and click the link to submit an application
5) RSPCA staff will contact you to inform you about the outcome of your application and to talk through the next steps if your application is successful!
