About Tayto
If you are looking for a happy smiling face, and a fluffy wagging tail to add to your family, then you might be looking for Tayto!
This little boy is such a sweetheart. He loves his foster carer and can often be found curled up beside her or getting snuggles. Tayto loves to just have some part of him touching you. But warned, you won’t have any privacy to go to the toilet by yourself anymore! Tayto enjoys playing with his little toys and chooses out his favourites. This boy is sure to bring a smile to your face and warm your heart.
Both prior to being rescued and while in foster care, Tayto has lived with multiple other dogs. He is great with other dogs and enjoys playing with those who wish to have a game with him. Generally, he is respectful of others and not a pest to the older ones who are not interested. Tayto will need a home that can provide him with a daily walk in a quieter area and would benefit from some mentally stimulating activities at home.
Tayto has come from a facility in far western NSW and doesn’t seem to have had a lot of exposure to new people and places. This results in him being a more timid boy around strangers; however, once he gets to know someone he warms up. Tayto is now enjoying going to other people’s houses for visits and is expanding his circle of friends. His new owners will need to be understanding and be willing to advocate for him if he is feeling overwhelmed so that he can have positive experiences and build confidence.
While in foster care, Tayto has been learning some basics and as he settles in, he is growing in confidence. He is a pleasure to have around and is an enjoyable companion. Tayto knows his name, is coming over to his carer when called around the home and is walking relatively well on the lead. He can be spooked by sudden noises out and about but recovers well and continues with some gentle encouragement. At this stage, Tayto experiences some car sickness; however, this is improving with regular short trips and as he feels more comfortable. He is crate trained and is very close to being perfectly toilet trained. Considering his background, he is progressing really well in his foster home, and he now just needs new owners who can continue to support him and show him all the wonderful things in life.
We are looking for a dog experienced home for Tayto where he will be a loved member of the family. He would do well in a home with another adult dog who is friendly and has a stable happy temperament. This would allow Tayto to be able to follow his doggy friend’s lead and it would be lovely if his new friend would have a play with him as well. Tayto will need a home where someone is home more often than not. He doesn’t suffer separation anxiety; however, he really does love to hang out with his people.
Tayto should be allowed inside the home where he can be with the family and will need a warm comfy bed to sleep on at night. At the moment, he loves to curl up on his foster carer’s bed where he sleeps soundly throughout the night. Tayto is currently living with a dog savvy cat without an issue as he really isn’t interested in it. He will need a quieter adult only home, preferably with people experienced in developing timid dogs. Tayto is just 5kg in size and fully grown so he definitely can fit into your lap for some nice snuggle time. He is not suited to inner city living and would do best in a house with a yard in suburban or rural environments. Tayto is going to make a beautiful little companion for his new owner and will bring a lot of love and happiness to his new home.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
