About Sav
Sav is the PERFECT dog for social people.
Love hanging out with friends? So does Sav!
Love going out for beach day, waterfall chasing or just a stroll in the wilderness? You wont find a dog who would be a better companion than Sav!
Have friends who have socially anxious dogs, super energetic dogs or dog-loving dogs? Sav will match their playstyle and have them play bowing all over the place!
Sav has the zest for life that we all want to possess. He loves people, dogs, excitement, cuddles, games, learning and more. If you need a companion to share the joy of everyday life with then look no further.
Sav is currently fostered by the owner of a Pet Minding business. His last 3 months have consisted of off lead play dates with a plethora of dogs and he has loved each and every one of them. He is a great reader of body language and is kind and respectful (though sometimes a little over enthusiastic) of other dogs that he plays with. He also has really great recall as a result and spends a lot of time exploring his surroundings off lead. He loves water and the beach is one of his absolute favourite playgrounds.
Sav is a really quick learner. His kelpie brain thrives off of new tricks and challenging tasks. In a 10 minute period he learnt drop, and has added that to his skills that also include, sit, heel and stay. He is crate trained and sleeps in his crate every night until 7am. He is toilet trained. Sav travels well in the car. He has all the basics mastered and is now looking for a home who can build on the foundations that his incredible foster carers have established.
Sav needs to be adopted to a home with another dog. His high energy play style means that he would expect a lot of his humans if he didn't have a canine brother or sister to run and play with. The other dog in the home would ideally be less than 8 years old and a medium breed or larger who is also a bouncy and playful character. He can get a bit worried about being left alone as he has always been with other dogs and he loves their companionship so much.
Sav has been living with an 18 month old child and is kind and gentle with him. He is a big dog at 30kg though so anyone looking to adopt that has young children would need to have kids who feel comfortable around large dogs. He is unlikely to grow any bigger than his current size.
He has not been around cats since he was 5 months of age. He would give chase if the cats ran away from him so we would prefer he went to a home without cats.
We would love Sav to go to a home where he gets out and about and explores this big wide world because that is his favourite thing to do.
Medical notes
Sav has a sensitive stomach and prefers to have a consistent diet of royal canin puppy food. Changes in diet can cause diarrhoea to develop. This always resolves when his diet is corrected.
