About Pretzel
Hi my name is Pretzel a 5 kilo Jack Russell Terrier and i LOVE
Playing with toys { especially squeaky ones)
Long walks and exploring the neighborhood
Cuddles on the couch
Sweet and super affectionate little Jack Russell” Pretzel “ is a loving and affectionate little housemate once he has settled in and been given the opportunity to feel completely safe.
Once our sweet little boy with a gentle temperament once he gets to know you. Due to a challenging start in life, Pretzel needs slow introductions to both people and dogs, as he can easily become overwhelmed. He requires a family that will take things at his pace and provide the space he needs to feel comfortable. In foster care, he has made significant progress and has been a true delight once he’s had time to decompress.
His absolute favorite things include
Chicken Leg - His absolute favorite toy, which he loves to fetch and bring back for more play.
Daily Walks and Sniffing - He enjoys his daily walks and exploring new scents. Company - Once comfortable, he loves being around people.
Treats and Chicken - Always a hit with Pretzel.
Interaction with Humans
Pretzel is a shy little guy and needs space to feel secure. He doesn’t like loud voices/ noise being picked up by unfamiliar people, cornered, or chased, which stresses him out and can lead to nipping as a defense mechanism. Therefore, he needs a family that understands the importance of going slow and giving him space. An adult-only home with no children who could push his boundaries is a must
Pretzel has been living with four large dogs and has taken time to feel comfortable. He tends to nip if other dogs invade his space but is fine otherwise. He has played well with a gentle, playful female dog, indicating that with time and calm, placid dogs, he can improve his social skills after slow introductions We are seeking an only dog home for him
Pretzel can be left alone for periods of time without an issue . He may scratch for attention but will eventually retreat to his outside bed. He rarely barks, except at the doorbell or people approaching the home.
Pretzel is well-behaved indoors but is a busybody at times who enjoys playing with toys and exploring. He loves snuggling on the couch for a pat. When overly nervous or excited, he may have little accidents, so it’s best to let him outside if visitors are coming. He is not destructive.
Pretzel is still learning his manners and needs ongoing training. He is quite jumpy, earning him the nickname “kangaroo,” but his small size makes it manageable. He loves chasing toys, especially those with squeakers, and will bring them back for more play.
Pretzel sleeps well on his bed all night and has access to a doggy door. And like with so many dogs Pretzel does NOT like to be patted or startled in his bed once asleep
Pretzel is gentle when taking treats. He enjoys his dry kibble twice a day and any additional treats, especially chicken.
Pretzel enjoys car rides but may not like being picked up initially. It’s best to wait until he has built a bond with you before taking him on car rides.
On occasions Pretzel will hop when our walking for a few paces but we have had full X Rays and medical checks done and there is NO medical issues with this
Pretzel has had a full dental completed
A quiet, kind, and gentle home that allows Pretzel to take his time to settle and build trust. An adult-only home with no small children visiting; older children who are kind and gentle are fine. A home committed to continuing his training and providing daily exercise. No apartment living will be considered.
A quiet home that is without the crazy hustle and bustle is best suited and a home that enjoys a nice daily walk and WILL allow Pretzel to settle in without pushing him as he will be a wonderful companion if allowed to settle in his own time, He will require a semi active home
We are seeking a home with no other dogs or children and a family with nervous dog experience
