About Winkle
If you are looking for a pretty little princess to fill that hole in your heart, then Winkle may very well be the one for you!
This girl is just gorgeous – well she is now anyway – when she first came into care from a facility out in far western NSW, she was dirty, unkempt and matted. But this was nothing a nice bath and some trimming couldn’t fix up. She is now thoroughly enjoying the many comfy beds in her foster home and all the other wonderful things that come with being in a real home.
Winkle is such a lover and is oh so sweet. She loves her humans and is a very, very affectionate little girl. In her foster home, she has been practising her best work from home companion skills, sitting with her foster carer at the computer like an enthusiastic colleague to help with the emails. Wherever you are, she will be right there with you, making her a wonderful little companion. Winkle loves cuddles and kisses and she will take as much attention as you are willing to give her. She even likes being carried like a baby!
While in foster care, Winkle has shown that she is a very clever girl. She has grown in confidence and has been able to settle in well to her foster home. Winkle is toilet trained and has good manners around the house. She knows some basic training like walking nicely on the lead, sit and fetch. This little girl still finds some things a bit overwhelming and gets the shakes when she is scared. Her new owners will need to be patient with her and understanding that living in Sydney and being out and about is relatively new to her. Winkle is making great progress in her foster home and will need someone able to continue this journey with her.
Winkle is loving living with two other friendly little dogs. She loves to play with her friend – they rumble and wrestle so much together. You will also catch the dogs curled up on the lounge or in the same bed together just chilling out. Winkle must live in a home with another friendly, happy-go-lucky dog who can help her confidence in new environments and provide companionship at home. She is quite an active girl who loves her daily walks and is even good off-lead, coming back when she is called. Winkle will need someone who can take her out for good walks each day and have that doggie friend whom she can play with at home.
Winkle is very unsure when initially meeting new dogs. She expresses this by shaking, growling, and wanting to move away. When Winkle is slowly introduced to other appropriate dogs, she relaxes and makes friends. Obviously, she wouldn’t be a candidate to go to an off-lead dog park environment where she would be put in a situation where there were many unknown dogs. However, she would be able to have playdates with known friendly dogs that she is gradually introduced to.
We are looking for an experienced owner for Winkle who will include her as a loved member of the family. She will require a home where someone is home most of the time. After all the upheaval in her life, Winkle hasn’t loved being left without her foster carers; however, this is settling over time as she feels more at home and comfortable. She can now be left home with the other dogs and settles after a few minutes of sooking. Her new owner will need to work on building her independence gradually and give her time to settle in. Winkle would be best suited to an adult only home where any visiting children are quieter and dog savvy (the erratic movements of young kids can be a bit scary for her). Winkle will need to be allowed inside to be with the family and will need a warm comfy bed inside to sleep on at night. Her new owner is set to be showered with love and enjoy lots of happy memories with this beautiful girl.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
