About Bellatrix
SPECIAL ADOPTER REQUIRED
18th March 2024, we received a plea to help rescue a very pregnant and terrified kitty from a rural pound. Our amazing carers didn't hesistate to put their hands up and jumped into action. Transport to bring them into the village was booked for the 21st and we prayed she would be okay on such a long trip. The day before they were set to arrive, our party of one became a party of 5. Mama was so terrified, she would not allow the staff to help her and getting her aboard transport was no easy task. She ans her 4 mini me's arrived late on the 21st safe but petrified and yet still sweet.
Bellatrix was named as she was a fierce and protective mum but as beautiful and gentle as the stars above. For the first few weeks, her understanding and patient carers let her get comfortable in their spare room and watched diligently from their baby cams to make sure she and the babies needed for nothing. As the little floofs grew, Bellatrix was happy for her carers to interact and love on her babies but she struggled to accept any love for herself. Her foster carers didn't let this deter them and patiently have been working with her to build a relationship.
Her kittens have all since grown and found their purrfect forever homes, Bellatrix has made more progress than we ever thought would be the case. She now roams around the house freely, she plays and eats with the resident cats, she chases toys and rubs against her carers legs. Bellatrix has learnt to be persistent with things she wants (meal times) and enjoys the finer things of life (learnt to jump and relax on the couch!). It is now November 2024, Bellatrix has been in care over 7 months and while she has not yet become a lap cat, she made more and more progress each and everyday. We believe she might even jump on the bed soon :) Bellatrix has endured the worst side of humans, and though we will never know what exactly she has suffered, it is evident that she has suffered. We know how precious Bellatrix is and there is no one more deserving than she of a special adopter who is willing to work at her pace.
Bellatrix is still extremely shy but she has made huge steps towards coming out of her shell. She will probably struggle with meet and greets at this stage but we can offer video meet and greet first so you are able to see how she will be once she feels safe and comfortable with you. Whilst Bella needs time to warm up to people, she loooooves other cats. She would do well with a well socialized adult cat, her best progress has been following the resident kitties leads. After watching her foster siblings come for a pat and a leg swoop, Bella will be next in line for a pat and a leg swoop. She's definitely been the instigator of the cat friendships and has impeccable cat social skills. Bella has come such a long way in what we believe is a short time due to her love for her feline foster siblings, so we think she would be best suited to home with another kitty!
She is a very brave cat who has been through a lot and would suit someone who works from home or can spend a lot of time with her, at this stage she would need to be an only fur baby and I'm not sure how she would go with very young children.
She has a very loud purr and even though she's scared, she loves a chin scratch. She's gained a lot of weight since we got her which is awesome because you could feel her spine when she first came to us. I believe with lots of love and attention she will be incredibly affectionate with her human, especially a human who is kind and gentle and able to continue to help her come out of her shell. Bellatrix is such a special girl, she has come so far in such a short time! Whilst she will most likely never be an outgoing cat, with the right patient adopters, I truly believe she will be so loving.
If you think you and your home would be a match for this shy little baby, please send us a message telling us a little about yourself and the life you could share with her.
Bellatrix is in foster care at Zillmere, her adoption fee includes her desexing, microchip, vaccination & she is up to date with her flea and worming treatments.
Bella and all Village Tail cats are indoor only :)
Thank you 💕
