Meet T-Bone, a puppy that would make a great addition to any family...
About: T-Bone is a lovely, placid & gentle boy. He is independent and very agreeable. He is a friendly dog who is always happy to interact & meet new people & make new friends. T-Bone loves to cuddle & be near his human friends as he loves to engage & show how affectionate he is.
He is smart & possibly had training in his previous home. T-Bone is outgoing, confident & curious about the world and its sights, smells & sounds. He is exceptionally social and quite playful too & loves to lie on his back for belly rubs.
T-Bone is suitable for first time owners or those with experience. He is also suitable for any household environment as he is easy going & adaptable. He would be a perfect choice for people who are active and go for walks, hikes, jogs or to the beach as he would love to come along for the ride!
Ideal Home: T-Bone isn’t a typical puppy, he’s not super energetic so he would be fine to live in any property type, and yard size is of no concern either. Just as long as the fencing is high & secure.
T-Bone love for humans knows no bounds, he is a respectful dog & will offer a ‘sit’ instead of jumping up to get your attention. So, he would love to have a bed inside the house so he can spend as much time with his new family as possible.
Family: T-Bone is open to meet kids of any age and he is fine to live with people who work full-time hours.
Furry Friends: T-Bone is open to meet dogs. During his dog assessment he showed super sweet, puppy like behaviour and showed off his more playful side. He loved meeting the other dog & offer play bows. He would benefit from further socialisation to other dogs just to refine his manners, but he is suitable to meet & live with another dog.
As we cannot test, we are unsure how T-Bone would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of his new owners.
Training & Development: T-Bone would also benefit from post-adoption training, such as training at home to continue his basic commands/obedience training & group classes to assist him with his manners when it comes to meeting other dogs.
With a little extra training T-Bone could be the type of dog that you could take to a dog friendly café or social setting as he is already quite calm, quite social & loves to meet & make new friends.
T-Bone is still learning his name, but he knows how to ‘sit’ & will do this on his own.
Having treats on hand would be great for T-Bone as he is food motivated & takes them gently from your hand, but he prefers high value treats like devon.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: T-Bone’s energy needs are medium, and he would benefit from exercise, walks, or play time from 30-60mins a day to keep his mind & body happy & healthy.
T-Bone walks ok on a lead, with some pulling but he is responding well to training so loose leash walking should be incorporated into his training regime.
T-Bone is best walked on a harness or martingale.
T-Bone loves toys, especially tennis balls but he may need a little encouragement to play as he tends to like just loafing around or sniffing the world around him.
Staff Comments: We love T-Bone. For a puppy he is so calm & such a great dog. He would fit in to any home, from young kids to the elderly, as he is gentle and already so smart. Any family would be lucky to have him!
Post-Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
