Meet CC, an active & lively, social little girl...
About: CC is a curious girl who is lively, active, confident & friendly. She is mostly agreeable and has a lovely gentle nature about her. CC is smart, happy & independent. A social butterfly who loves anyone she meets, she is affectionate but can be a little boisterous at times. She is a girl on the go!
CC is suitable for experienced owners, someone with dog experience or Jack Russell Terrier experience would be ideal. She is suitable for any household environment and would be a great dog for those who are active & spend time outdoors as she would make an excellent adventure buddy. Going for walks, hikes, a trip to the beach, you name it, she will be down.
It is important to note that CC is known and will jump up for attention. She may even sit on a seat beside you at the dinner table...
Ideal Home: CC is suitable for any property type/dwelling and yard size is of no concern to her either just as long as the fencing is high and secure. Just because she is a small breed dog doesn’t mean that she cannot escape. CC can jump quite high despite her short, little legs.
As CC loves spending time with people, being inside the home on a regular basis is top of her priority list!
Family: CC is open to meet kids of any age and she is best with someone who works from home or is home often. If left alone for long periods of time it may be a good option to consider crate training so that she feels safe when being left at home alone.
Furry Friends: CC is dog social & is open to meet dogs, during her dog assessment she was able to see the other dog & as she got closer she displayed sweet, playful behaviour.
As we cannot test, we are unsure how CC would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of her new owners. Her breed should be factored in if you have cats/pocket pets.
Training & Development: CC would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands & obedience, and group classes so that her social skills around dogs remain sharp. It would be a wise move to invest in a create & start crate training as it is not only a highly valuable tool to have but a great skill for any dog to learn and know.
CC is a mostly quiet dog; we rarely hear her bark, and with further training CC could be the type of dog you could take to a dog friendly café or social setting around other people/dogs as she is quite social herself and can self soothe/settle.
CC is still learning her name, but she knows ‘sit’ & ‘down’, and she loves her treats which will make training fun & enjoyable as treats are a good tool to use and she is very food motivated.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: CC walks well on a lead with minimal pulling & she is best walked with a collar.
CC’s energy needs are high, and she should be exercised, walked, or played with every day from 20-60mins a day. But she will let you know when she has had enough. Sometimes something as simple as a cuddle on the couch will be enough to fill up her cup.
Staff Comments: CC is a sweet girl, she loves attention. She will suit a home where she can be your shadow, if left alone would suit either being indoors full time or being crate trained.
Post-Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
