About Alaska - 63217
Alaska is a very outgoing, sweet, playful puppy who has found her way to GAWS through no fault of her own. Through her time here it has been discovered that Alaska is mostly deaf and does not let that stop her living life to her fullest. She is very curious about the world and loves exploring new things. Alaska is a cuddle monster, and loves to lick her people as a way of affection. She has a bit of separation anxiety her foster carers are working on. Alaska is very smart and can out think you if you aren't careful. She is looking for an experienced home, preferably with an owner that has experience with deaf puppies prior. Or someone who is willing to have the commitment of training her as it will be different to normal puppy training as you need to adjust to her condition. They have to be willing to do the learning involved. It would be great to teach her sign language as a way to communicate with her. She is quick to pick up things and very food oriented. It would be great to teach her how to self sooth. Alaska may suit a male dog in the home who is mature and social to show her the ropes. She would best suited to a home with children over 13 who can help train her. She has been living with cats at her foster carers place. And would be able to live with a dog savvy cat. She wants to play with them, but if the cat shows her their boundaries by standing up to her she is fine with them. She will very much missed at her foster carers place as she is such an unique puppy and a joy to be around. She deserves a loving home. The owners home needs to have a secure backyard attached where her owner can keep an eye on her while she is out as she loves exploring independently and doing zoomies. She is well on the way to be house trained.
