Juni is a wonderful fun dog whose favourite things are chasing balls and snoozing with her human family. Juni is remarkably calm for a kelpie x and happily spends the day relaxing or chewing her bone/toy. Like most young dogs she does need to be exercised daily. With her excellent recall and love of playing fetch this is an easy task, 15-20 mins of fetch at a dog park and she is ready for a long afternoon/evening snooze.
If you like long walks/runs/hikes Juni will happily join in the adventure. Juni walks well on lead and is very in tune with her human, she checks in constantly to make sure she is doing the right thing.
Being young, smart and eager to please she is easy to train. Juni is fully house trained with excellent recall. With a firm grasp of basic commands, she is eager to learn more and would quickly become a star student in any training class.
A loving, cuddly dog, Juni will happily spend the evening curdled up next to you or with head and paws draped lovingly across your lap. She loves being with her human and will do her best to stay by your side, often seeking cuddles and companionship that will melt your heart.
Juni has been living with three cats and is very cat friendly, they enjoy snuggling and hanging out together.
Juni was a rescue adopted as a companion/playmate for a Jack Russell cross who was also a rescue. Unfortunately, the resident Jack Russell food guards and becomes very tense/angry when she is minding a treat. Juni gets stressed by the angry growling which seems to trigger a trauma response in her and displays dominate behaviour. The dogs otherwise live happily together. However, each dogs’ triggers mean they would be better living apart.
Juni does not resource guard at all and is normally a very calm sweet girl.
Juni behaves well in off lead dog parks, behaves well on lead (ignoring dogs that lung and bark) and likes saying hello to friendly dogs of all shapes and sizes.
She can however be reactive where she feels threatened by what she perceives as an aggressive dog in her home/comfort zone. This may be related to some trauma experienced as a puppy.
Juni would prefer to live as an only dog with a confident and experienced person who can recognise when she is feeling uncomfortable with another dog’s behaviour and help her by distracting her or removing her from the situation. She is wonderful with cats and other animals and would live happily with them. As a very loving affectionate dog she would need a family that has time to spend with her and will allow her to be inside and a part of their lives. She does not require a large yard.
