About Gidget
Not suited to apartment living.
Not for interstate adoption apart from ACT
Gidget is a 6-year-old long-haired chihuahua and is an active and playful little girl.
Gidget came from a home where she did not get socialisation with a lot of people or in the outside world, she was very shut down and uncertain for the first week or so but after this she has come along in leaps and bounds and now loves to cuddle with her carer on the lounge.
Her new home must give her time to adjust to her new environment and not overwhelm her too soon...she will adjust given a bit of time and once settled will be very loyal and sweet, preferring to sleep next to you on the couch with her head on your lap.
Gidget will need a quieter home environment with no young children to overwhelm her.
She loves to run around and fossick in the garden but then runs inside to be near you.
Gidget gets along well with her foster siblings (dogs and cats) but would probably be best suited to be an only dog as she bonds strongly with her one human and will try to fend off any visitors to the house (in true chihuahua fashion!!) She would be ok living with cat. If Gidget will be the only animal in the home, she will need a home where someone is home more often than not.
Gidget is house trained in her foster home and will ask to go outside and/or would use a doggy door. Of course, her new home will be a new environment so her new owners will have to set her up to succeed with house training. Advice can be given.
She enjoys getting out and about each day on walkies and walks well on lead, so will need a new home that can continue daily outings for her to explore and sniff at her own pace.
