About Rocky Gainsborough
TO APPLY FOR ADOPTION PLEASE SEND IN APPLICATION FORM AVAILABLE BELOW:

Rocky is a polite delight of a young dog who, like his namesake, is
at least three parts marshmallow. Calm and friendly with people of all
sizes, an intuitive companion to other dogs, and experienced living with
cats, Rocky is a great pack member. This boy is great on lead, polite
when passing other dogs, has excellent recall and is fully housetrained.
He is easygoing around the house and delights in spending time with his
family and engaging in play with other well-mannered dogs. He sleeps
well through the night near his carers and is equally happy when out on
his daily walks and relaxing at home. Rocky is also a seasoned traveller, happily hopping in and settling in the car.
Rocky connects strongly with his humans and finds it hard to be apart
from them for long. He can also be hesitant in situations where he is
unsure, tending to avoid or refuse to engage with frankly unnatural
things like moving rampways, for example. These behaviours signal a lack
of confidence which may be to do with past poor experiences or simply
lack of experience in Rocky's young life. Given how smart, focused and
friendly is our Rocky, he is likely to be able to overcome some of the
limitations of his past with consistent training and rewards-based
activities that help him build his confidence.
Rocky will do well in a variety of homes where he has company, with
people who want to spend time with him and are able to support him
through training and activities that develop his confidence and give him
a good mental workout. Daily walks and gentle exposure to new
experiences will help Rocky grow and realise all the wonders life has to
offer. Given Rocky's separation anxiety, he will prefer people who are
home more often than not or able to take him with them when they go out,
and are able to work patiently with him to reduce this stress. He would
also love a self-assured and friendly canine companion at home, or
regular opportunities for quality dog-time. Rocky absolutely loves
throwing up his toys and playing with them but never destroying them.
Given Rocky's breed traits, he would be best kept away from pocket pets.
Rocky is a terrific young dog who deserves the chance to grow and show
his new family the mutual joy of helping him become all he can be. With
his smarts and lovely disposition, this will be a fantastic journey of
discovery for all involved. If you are ready to guide Rocky along life's
road, he would love you to complete an adoption application.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped,
wormed, and flea treated. All necessary vetwork such as dentals,
surgery, eye treatment are also carried out. We are no longer heartworm
testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If
a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.

The application form must be emailed to us:

Please note that we do not take/make telephone calls prior to receiving an application.
Commonly asked questions and their answers are provided when you email us. Unfortunately we usually will not have time to reply to enquiries in more detail and will give priority to completed applications over enquiries. Priority will also be given to typed applications which are easier for us to read and to copy relevant parts.
We look forward to receiving your application.

We appreciate our sponsors and all our donors so much, as without them we would not be able to save the pets we do, or run our programs that reach into the community to give a helping hand. Are you able to donate, sponsor or want to leave a bequest?
