Meet Fern, a delightful girl who is as charming as she is curious. Fern is a blend of friendly, outgoing, and inquisitive, making her a delightful family member who will never cease to entertain and endear.
Our Fern is no wallflower. Instead, she dives right into new experiences and environments. No corner of your home will go unexplored, as she loves to investigate every cupboard, drawer, and even the fridge! Her curiosity is one of her most adorable traits, bringing fun and laughter to everyday life.
In addition to her inquisitive nature, Fern is an immensely affectionate cat. She thrives on the love and attention from her family, often instigating playtime or a cuddle session. An avid fan of tennis balls, Fern is surprisingly playful and will amuse you with her antics.
Fern, while being a picture-perfect in terms of behavior, has a physical condition that truly makes her special – Bilateral High Grade Medial Luxating patellas (kneecaps) with concurrent angular changes in the bones of her hind legs. Although this does not limit her from jumping or running comfortably now, it may change over time and potentially lead to osteoarthritis.
One of our vets will thoroughly discuss her condition with any potential adopter to ensure Fern's care and conditions are fully understood and catered for. Due to her condition, Fern needs to live indoors only, a great opportunity for her to truly be an integral part of your household.
Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need.
