About Midnight
Gimme gimme gimme a cat named Midnight...
Meet Midnight,
Midnight is a sensitive girl but very friendly. She is curious, though she has a slight timid streak. Her affection know no bounds as she loves to be around you, she will head bunt, and stretch out to touch you, and often will give little love bites to show her adoration of you.
Midnight is suitable for first time owners or those with cat ownership experience. She is also best suited to a home that is calm & quiet as loud noises can tend to startle her, although she is also confident at the same time...
Midnight is open to meeting kids from 10 years & up & our reason for this is due to her love biting. Her little way of communicating can be a bit much for smaller kids. Sometimes her little bites are gentle, whilst some can be a bit more firm. It is important to note that she does this out of love, hence the name, and not out of aggression. Midnight may settle and do this less in a home environment, this may be her way of settling in to shelter life after being surrendered to us.
Midnight loves being picked up, cuddled & petted & loves her back being stroked & her chin being scratched.
Midnight previously lived with cats, in fact she lived with Cleopatra (ID: 11303, Olivia (ID: 11304) & Olive (ID: 11305). She appears to be very interested in the other cats in the cattery but we always recommend a slow & controlled introduction to existing cats.
As we cannot test in this environment, we are unsure if Midnight previously lived with dogs or is suitable in general to live with dogs. This would be up to the discretion of her new owner.
Midnight is a cat best to live inside only. Being outside the home increases her risk of getting lost, injured or worse. We tested her in our car park & she also did not like this either, she hid most of the time & was very uncomfortable. Midnight was inside only in her previous home.
Midnights energy needs are mid-range, she is sometimes playful & at the same time, she is also happy to laze around. She does however have a love for wand toys. Midnight is also not fussy with her food & has a special place in her heart (and tummy) for Crunchers treats! She is also a very tidy girl and always uses her litter tray.
Medical: You may notice from her photos that Midnight's left pupil is larger than the right pupil & displays an asymmetric shape. Our vet has told us that it is called 'iris coloboma'. When present, iris colobomas have minimal impact on vision and do not change over time, however it may predispose Midnight to cataracts later on in life. Our vet has given Midnight the all clear for adoption.
Love bites: What are they? Love bites are a method of communication. They typically start with a lick and slowly progress to gentle nibbles and nips. Love bites are typically gentle. They often don’t hurt, pierce the skin, draw blood, or require medical attention. Equally, the cat’s body language is usually relaxed and there aren’t any signs of aggression, although some cats may become slightly overstimulated and their love bites be get a little firmer.
Post-Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask if that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
