About Poko
*Please note I am only available Monday- Friday*
Hi, my name is Poko :D,
I'm suitable to go home with adults and older children, but would prefer to be the only pet in the household.
I came to the Lost Dogs Home a little while ago and I was so scared of all the world around me. During my assessment, I was really scared. So, I got assessed twice, because I was a little shut down and hid under the desk the first time. It was so much better the second time, because I got to go on a walk on the street and sniff lots of things along the way to meeting dogs through the fence at the dog park. I also got to see one of my assessors twice. That made me more comfortable too. So, I became a behaviour department dog for a few weeks even though I got sick at the end of the first week I started training. That was difficult because I had a hard time taking my medication and so this slowed my progression through training down. After being sick things got going for me. We tried a couple of medications, and I started feeling more confident. I even started eating better.
Before I came to the "Lost Dogs Home" I lived with a family of 7 including kids and adults. I've been friendly with children in the past, overexcited for a little while when I meet anyone new, but I settle quickly really. I was also toilet trained. That's a big bonus for my new adopter let me tell you. I like spending time with you, so I'm mostly an inside doggy. I love cuddles on my schedule and know some tricks that I have been practicing like, sitting on the mat and hand targeting. Tricks are fun and all that, but my favorite thing about humans, well that is so easy, long affectionate pats and chest rubs. I give you kisses if you rub my chest or give me doggy massage. We will totally be best friends. So, if you want to meet me at North Melbourne try to come on a weekday so you can meet my trainer Jay and he can tell you all about how great I am. I just can't wait to move to my forever home so we can be BFF's.
Kisses and cuddles, <3
Poko
