About Mavis
Hi, how's it going?
Okay the rescue has said I need to tell you about myself - ooooh bit scary as I'm not a huge one for all the attention and spot light but here goes.............
I have heard my foster mum describe me as a beautiful girl who anyone who meets will fall in love with and be blessed to have me in their lives.
I know that ladies are not suppose to discuss their age but I am 5 year and 10 month old Cavalier King Charles
I have come into care as a retired breeder and the rescue has made sure all my vet work is completed and no more babies for me!
Like a lot of ex-breeding dogs that come into care I can be nervous on first meeting some people and I’m not a fan of lots of noise etc.... I think a nice calm home for me sounds perfect.
I have spent my life with other dogs and while I have no issues with them, I have started to show interest in toys and while I'm still learning how other dogs play I really do enjoy the company of another dog - they will also help me with my confidence and showing me that the humans will love and take care of me as well.
I am good around kids but not keen on kids who are loud or full of energy so maybe a home with kids over 10 would be perfect for me.
I am not a dog that needs to be on your lap 24/7 or up in your face - I know that might make me sound aloof - it's not I'm just not used to it and need time to give love a chance.
I would like to spend my days with living inside and having access to outside (mainly for lady business and a sniff around oh yeah and to chase fly's - my foster mum calls me the great fly hunter!) I like to be able to come in and out at my leisure.
I have started to learn how to do zoomies in the backyard and my foster mum says each time I do this her heart melts.
I am still learning about pats and cuddles and not a huge one for them but love once I'm comfortable to lay on the couch with you and watch tv.
My foster family works so I'm okay being home while you work - but will follow you around when your home
I currently live with cats
I love to sleep on my foster mum's bed and taking sleeping seriously - on the bed, find a spot and sleep - no playing and jumping around the bed for me! I'm also happy to sleep on the couch or a nice dog bed.
I am toilet trained
I have a coat that does require grooming. I will need grooms so that my coat stays looking good & not matted (especially at my ears) so please keep this in mind when applying as it’s an ongoing expense.
So if you think you’re the home for me please apply – I may be shy at the beginning but I promise if you make me yours I will spend my life loving you.

Paw Prints Canine Rescue is a non for profit dog rescue located in Southeast Queensland.
All our dogs leave our care with full vet work (up-to-date vaccinated, microchipped, desexed, heart worm and intestinal wormed and flea treated).
Please note - They will not leave for their new homes until they are 12 weeks of age and have been desexed, micro-chipped and vaccinated up to date.
Please note - we are not a pound or have kennels - all our dogs stay in foster carers homes and therefore dogs are not able to be simply viewed - only approved applicants will meet the dogs.
Please Note: We do not hold any animals so please only apply if you are ready to adopt now
Please note - We don't take calls on adoption enquiries - an application must be completed
We can also be found at https://www.facebook.com/pawprintscanine/
Complete the following adoption enquiry link

Once an adoption enquiry is completed our admin team will assess the application and if successful we will arrange for a meet and greet to be completed. We may also request photos of your yard for consideration of your application. Please note that we will do no more than 3 meet and greets per dog.
Approved applicants will be contacted to arrange a time for a meet & greet via email. You must bring your current dog along to the meeting if you are meeting another dog/puppy, this is to ensure they get along before commencing adoption - proof of your dogs up-to-date vaccination is required before any meet and greet is arranged.
Our adoption fee must be cleared in our bank account before any animal is available for pick up. Please note we bank with ANZ - any other bank may take 48 hours to process the monies.
Paw Prints Canine Rescue has a 10 day trial period – this basically means that if for any reason the adoption does not work out and the dog needs to be returned to us, the adoption fee minus an admin fee (minimum is $250) will be returned to the adoptees via bank transfer within 7 working days.
Please note that if an interstate adoption needs to be returned or regional adoption all transport cost with be paid by the adopter.
Please also note while this can be a very exciting time for everyone, it can also be an overwhelming time for dogs and we ask that you do try and allow your new family member to settle in their new home and adjust
INTERSTATE ADOPTIONS **
Any transport costs are to be paid by the adopting family, however we can assist you in helping with transport to airports etc.
** Please note some of our dogs are not available for interstate adoption
AFTER THE TRIAL PERIOD
After the 10 day trial period is completed Paw Prints Canine will send out all relevant paperwork for your new furbaby via email including the transfer of microchip form.
