About Lena
Lena is a playful, yet reserved girl who charms all who get to know her. She is very good with all humans, especially children, who she especially loves. She would fit in well with a family with children, even toddlers (as long as they are OK with frequent doggy kisses). When she leans to trust a human she will often show this by getting her her eyes level with the humans and staring deep into their eyes. Extremely patient & tolerant, Lena would be an excellent family dog. She loves frequent pats & belly rubs, and will be sure to let you know if she feels she hasn't met her quota. With that said, she is very obedient & need only to be told once when enough is enough!
Lena is very well behaved whenever there is company available. Her cheekiness makes an appearence when she is left alone & becomes bored or anxious. Usually this involves finding a new toy or something that reminds her of her family to play with or chew. Even here, her gentle nature shows as she tends to treat her discovered 'toys' gently until 'officially' given the green light. She loves to play gently with toys in the house, especially with squeaky balls or a short rope for tug of war. Used to small spaces, she will play quite happily & carefully in a single room. Throw the ball a long way outside & she tends to assume that means you didn't want it anyway. Totally unfazed by being covered with a blanket, this often seems to comfort her & make her calm.
Lena is very well behaved with other dogs. Initially a little distant to many, once she gets to know another dog & feels she can play with it, she will engage fully, whilst still being responsive to her human. Dog play, though, is second to human play & she'd still rather play with humans (especially the small variety) if possible. When faced with an aggressive or anxious dog, Lena will keep her distance until she feels it is safe to approach.
Lena has spent most of her life in the company of her human and/or a companion dog, so can get anxious if left alone. She would do best in a home where she is not left alone for long periods, or has a compatible doggy companion. Despite her young age, she doesn't necessarily need a youthful companion. An older dog who would tolerate her (occasional) youthful hi-jinks would also work. She loves to be close to her human when sleeping, if possible, but will happily retreat to her own bed if told to.
Lena has had a bit of a rough start to life, but has come through it with a winning personality. Sudden loud noises or unexpected quick movements can scare her momentarily & make her cower or think she has done something wrong. However, a little reassurance & a few gentle words will calm her & restore her
Lena is fully toilet trained. In familiar surroundings she walks well on the lead (though tends to be excitable & want to run rather than walk if possible). In most cases, a stern command will bring her to heel. Alas, rabbits (and kangaroos) are her downfall & she forgets all her manners when they are nearby.
Lena is not tested with cats. Her good nature suggests that she should be able to adjust to their presence given enough training & exposure.
