About Arlo
Arlo's new home will have:
- another desex confident dog.
- no young children
- secure yard.
- steps or stairs so he can access furniture maybe needed.
- A one story home.
- To be allowed access inside when his people are home, he just loves your company.
- Arlo show's some signs of stress when being left so he would prefer his people home a lot.
Arlo is a small dog with a big personality.
Arlo loves all dogs, going for sniff walks and being with his people and receiving belly rubs.
He isn't big on playing with the other dogs but loves their company and will often chase them if they are playing fetch, and will engage for a little game of tug with his people. Although he is happy outside with the other dogs, his preference by far is being where his people are.
Arlo loves going for walks to sniff around; being on the a retractable lead (where safe) is his favourite, he puts his nose down and follows all the smells. On a walking lead he pulls and at the moment his carer is trying to teach him loose leash walking but if you know dachshunds you know they are stubborn, he is improving slowly.
Arlo loves his people and is often lying on his back for belly rubs. He can bark at new people but is being told enough and if the people ignore him and sit down low he is very quick to approach and roll over for pats, and then you have made a long lasting friend.
Arlo can be a bit of a barker and it somewhat sounds like a Rottweiler's bark. He is learning to stop when told enough. He mostly alert barks, Arlo has a tendency to barks when he is left, and shows some signs of stress when left. He can bark when out on a walk if it's a busy location, this is reducing with his training and socialisation.
Arlo is crate trained and will happy sleep there all night and is ok to be left in there during the day for short periods, but if he had his way he would choose to sleep close to his people or on the oversized human beanbag.
Arlo doesn't like the vet and required medication before his visit to help keep him calm, and when the vet put a muzzle on he relaxed enough for the vet to give him a full health check.
Arlo's previous owners said he is good with cats but he has not been around any since being in foster care, slow supervised introductions will be needed with any resident dog friendly cats.
Due to his breed care needs to be taken that he isn't continuously jumping down from furniture or heights and doggy steps or stairs may be best to help keep him from injuries.

Adoption details
Please note- we do not work on a first in best dressed basis, we assess all applications to choose the home that we believe will best match the animal.
If you believe one of our animals would be a good match for your home please send us a detailed email us with some information about the people and any other animals in your home as well as the type of lifestyle you can offer a new rescue pet.
We are volunteerswho run the rescue around families, paid employment and other commitments so your patience is appreciated.
We do require you to travel to meet the animal you are looking to adopt. For dog adoptions, any other dogs in your home musr attend the meet and greet, this enables us to assess their compatibility and helps prevent them being returned and creating more confusion/insecurities for the foster animal.
We reserve the right to refuse the adoption if we don't believe it's a good match for our animals.
All our animals are available for a two week trial with full refund. They are also covered by a lifetime return policy. If you ever find yourself unable to care for or keep your pet please contact us and they will come back into our care or we will assist you in finding them a suitable new home, this is a condition thst you agree to when signing our Adoption Agreement.
