It's likely Cayenne has missed out on some early socialisation and can be quite worried with new people and in new places so he must be started in a small area and allowed time to settle prior to being allowed to explore the rest of the house as he can become easily overwhelmed in large open spaces

Cayenne needs a patient and understanding mature household who can recognize that he will be timid going into a new environment and may take a little while to settle in before he shows his true self!
