About Ritz Quackers
Meet Ritz Quackers,
Ritz is a friendly, social & chatty girl. She is best suited to someone who has owned ducks before, someone who already has ducks and understands the ins-&-outs of all things ducks.
Ritz is best to live on a semi-rural or rural property and must have access to water so she can swim, splash, play & clean herself. Ritz will drink around 1L of water a day and this water will help keep her eyes, bill, feet & feathers in tip top condition.'
In terms of housing, Ritz will need to be kept in a pen or house when you are not at home, or at night, something that is secure that will protect her from predators & weather elements.
The housing should be out of the sun and cool for warmer months as heat stress can be fatal. The housing must also be well-ventilated.
It’s best to keep Ritz’s food containers inside her house and under cover so it doesn’t get wet too.
In general, ducks usually need to be wormed every 6 months with a poultry wormer, & Ritz is no exception. Talk to your veterinarian for advice about worming.
Important Stuff:Ducks require housing that caters to their physical, behavioural, and social needs. As social animals, they thrive when kept with other ducks for companionship. Their curiosity and intelligence mean they need ample space to move around freely and access to water for their natural water-related behaviours. Please check with your local Council if you are allowed to own ducks.
Post-Adoption Life:With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask if that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
Note: We are experiencing issues with this Expression of Interest from. Please contact the facility on 02 4645 4790 to express your interest & book in a day/time to meet & greet.
