Are you looking for kelpie joy? Then Loki might be your guy. Well-loved through his life and looking for a new family through no fault of his own, Loki has the smarts and loyalty of his breed combined with the chill and experience of his seven years. Loki is house trained and used to living with dogs and cats. He sleeps well through the night in his own bed or on his people’s, if given the chance. Loki is used to living in a busy home and being left inside when his people are out. He is well-behaved and non-destructive inside, although may do a bit of garden excavation for you if he is locked outside without company. Sociable Loki is also happy to accompany you to work and help you meet all the people, which he does from time to time in his current digs. He loves his daily walks and a trip to the dog park lights up his life. He is also a champion snoozer and calm around the house once play time is over. Loki is a good doggy doorbell, letting you know when people approach or pass your home.
While Loki loves and has lived happily with other dogs, he will benefit from a bit of work managing his enthusiasms on lead, as he gets overexcited, pulling and sometimes barking in his desire to make contact. He will also benefit from a brush up on his manners, so he remembers to keep all four paws on the ground when meeting and greeting new people and dogs. These issues can be easily addressed with some basic rewards-based training to help Loki with loose lead walking and controlling his impulses. This smart cookie will also benefit from mental stimulation through the use of puzzle feeders and games that require him to solve problems to get his rewards.
Loki will do well in a variety of homes where he has social opportunities with both people and other pups or cats. He understands the requirements of modern life and will be okay left home alone while humans work and play, provided he has regular exercise, mental stimulation and play, and plenty of together time when people are home. Loki would love to live with another dog who enjoys some play and is tolerant with his enthusiasm, but can also be a solo dog if he has other social outlets. Loki will reward his new people with his loyalty and devotion, and the joy of watching him flourish. If you have a Loki sized place in your heart and home, he would love you to submit an adoption application.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed, and flea treated. All necessary vetwork such as dentals, surgery, eye treatment are also carried out. We are no longer heartworm testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.

We look forward to receiving your application.
