Rocky is a handsome 2.5-year-old long-haired German Shepherd that is desperately seeking an experienced person to give him a loving forever home.
Rocky may be an adult dog, but he very much resembles a younger teenager, he can still be very puppy-like at times, jumping up and snatching toys or his lead. It is clear Rocky hasn’t been given much in the way of boundaries, whilst he is clever and knows his basic commands well, he needs reminding of his manners and will need firm rules in his new home so that he can learn what is expected of him.
Rocky enjoys meeting new people, he will happily accept treats from anyone and absolutely loves it when visitors play fetch with him. Once Rocky trusts you, he is very affectionate and enjoys a brush. Rocky can be a little wary with handling around his back end, he is a little nervous particularly with strangers and needs to go slow with pats all over, he is best suited to a home where everyone is over the age of 16 years old.
Rocky is extremely clever, he likes to show off his tricks including sit, drop, shake paws, stay and come, it is clear this boy has had training, however, could do with some practise under distraction and general obedience to refine his manners and learn impulse control. Rocky is motivated by both food and toys and will work for both; he would do well undertaking regular training with a breed experienced owner that will give firm bur fair boundaries.
Rocky is conflicted with other dogs, when he sees them from a distance, he panics and will bark and lunge, when given the opportunity to calm down, Rocky has shown he can walk nicely around other dogs, however he is lacking in confidence to meet them up close. Rocky’s new owner needs to understand that interacting with other dogs will be something that needs to be worked on overtime and likely with the help of a trainer, Rocky may never feel comfortable interacting with others up close, his first goal is to not react to them at a distance. Rocky will need to be the only pet in his new home, he is not suited to a home with cats or other small pets.
Rocky is in an independent boy that will happily keep himself amused during the day, he likes to self-play and will throw his toys up and catch them, squeaky toys are his favourite, but be warned all squeaks must be killed 😉 Rocky would love to be provided with enrichment to keep him mentally stimulated, this combined with plenty of exercise and daily training sessions will help to keep this boy amused.
Rocky is stunning, there is no denying it, but this boy knows how gorgeous he is and will try and get away with anything he can, he oozes sass and attitude, and is a true ratbag that is hard not to fall in love with. Being a stubborn young male, he will need a confident, experienced handler that is willing to put in the work with Rocky, he is not suited to first time German Shepherd owners. This boy has so much potential, and in the right hands, with correct management and boundaries he will be the most incredible dog.

Adoption details
We offer a 'Foster to Adopt' program. This means that the dog will go to live with their adoptive family for 4 weeks to ensure it is the perfect match for both the dog and new family. After the 4 weeks is complete, if all has gone well, the adoption is formalised and your new doggy companion is officially yours!
If you are interested in adopting from us, we ask that you fill out the Adoption Application form on our website (via the link provided below) with as much detail as possible, including the name of the dog you are interested in.
We do not rehome female dogs to a home where there is an existing female dog. Whilst there are always exceptions, it is generally unwise to have two females together; two males can sort it out, a male and a female can sort it out, but when two females fight, the results can be disastrous. For this reason, following the advice from numerous Veterinary behaviourists, as well as our own experience from the last eight years, we do not rehome females into homes with other female dogs.
All of our dogs are de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated
Puppies (2 months to 4 months) - $1000
Puppies (4 to 6 months) - $800
Adolescents (6 months to 1 year) - $700
