About Genie
Beautiful Genie is everything you could possibly want in a little puppy. She is curious, playful and sweet.
Sadly, Genie has not had the best start to life and has come into our care with her siblings.
Although the rest of her litter had been vaccinated by their breeder, sadly, Genie missed out due to one reason.
She is deaf!
Whilst we know that Genie is going to need an extra special home, we also believe that she deserves every chance to have a happy healthy life, the same as her littermates do.
Of course, Genie’s first stop as a KPR kid was to get her needles. Despite her lack of hearing, our vets say that she is a happy, healthy puppy and we know that, in the right home, Genie will have a great life.
Training a deaf dog is the same as training a hearing dog except that often it is made easier as they aren’t distracted by noises!
Deaf puppies pick up hand signals very quickly (especially if there are treats involved) and learn to watch their humans for cues. They have the same level of intelligence and mischief as hearing pups do.
The added bonus is that they won’t bark every time there is a noise and they sleep soundly, no matter what is going on around them!
Of course, deaf dogs are special and whilst they easily learn the same commands as hearing dogs, they learn to respond to hand signals rather than words.
We would love to find Genie a home where she can start her journey. She is such a sweet little girl, and she will quickly have you wrapped around her little paw.
Whilst we don’t know her exact breed, Genie’s mum is a medium sized (20 kg ) mixed breed and we are told her dad is a bit bigger. Genie currently weighs around 5 kg and is 10 weeks old.
If you can open your heart and home to this extra special KPR kid, we would love to have a chat with you.
