Meet Kyrie, a lovely shepherd who loves to cuddle...
About: Kyrie is a gentle, friendly and happy girl who is curious and inquisitive. She is affectionate, engaging & has a cute little playful streak that she will show you when she feels super comfortable around you.
Kyrie is best suited to someone who has experience with dog ownership, or shepherd breed experience.
Kyrie is also suitable for any household or environment, all thanks to her adaptable nature. Kyrie would be great for people/families who are active & spend time outdoors and she is the type of dog that would accompany you on your daily walks, a park run, even to the beach.
Ideal Home: Kyrie would be best to live in a townhouse, house or on a farm/acreage, with a medium to large yard & high, secure fencing.
Kyrie loves being around people, so having access to inside the home would be ideal so she can feel like part of the family.
Family: Kyrie is open to meet kids of any age, and she is also fine to live with people who work part-time or full-time hours.
Furry Friends: Kyrie has previously lived with another dog, in fact she lived with Kyza (ID: 35769). Kyrie seems to get along well with Kyza, both displaying relaxed attitude towards each other.
However, she does not appear to enjoy the company of other dogs and as such is best to be the only dog in the home for now. Her reaction to other dogs indicates that she only socialised with Kyza but we will work with her on her desensitisation and update accordingly should there be any change.
As we cannot test, we are unsure how Kyrie would go living with cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of her new owners.
Training & Development: Kyrie would also benefit from post-adoption training, such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience.
Kyrie is food motivated but she needs a little work when it comes to taking said treats gently. Treats are a good training tool as well – Kyrie doesn’t appear to by fussy about the type of treat either.
Kyrie is still learning her name, but she knows ‘sit’.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Kyrie’s energy needs are medium, and she would benefit from exercise, walks or play from 30-60mins in length. Kyrie walks well on a lead, although can pull sometimes. She is best walked with a martingale.
Kyrie doesn’t appear to be interested in toys, she prefers human interaction, personal play, or cuddling with her handlers.
Post-Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
